My Splinterlands journey : a road bumpy ahead

Splinterlands game is a good evolution of blockchain which spearheads the change of mindset of every person towards owning your own asset. It was really something new as most of the items and or cards you owned in a game were usually owned by the company and you would potentially lose it once the game turned sour and potentially closed. Even though you have spent a lot of money on the game and also your dedicated time into it, all will be lost as we know games usually come and go depending on how game patrons support it to the extent that they will spend a lot of money so that the game company could deliver the best out of that game.

And now it has totally changed as a game like Splinterlands continues to deliver a good output of the game and players have the authority of acquiring those assets as their own. They do have the right to do whatever they like on those assets, whether they prefer it to resale in the secondary market, hold that asset for a very long time until such value is at the player's preferred price, or use it entirely inside the game and potentially maximized the capability of that asset and use it as an advantage towards other players who have not had it.

Anyway, I like Splinterlands in other card games since I was able to form a bond in a guild community by just playing Splinterlands. It is not just a game but it is more like a community wherein you interact with people and it doesn't matter if you know them personally or not. But what makes that community strong is that Splinterlands itself continues to deliver exciting updates and surprises to the community and not just the players. Now we head on to my own experiences and perspective towards this very awesome game.

Discovery of Splinterlands

My and and friends started using Steemit as our output to express our own view towards the day-to-day happening of our lives and experiences. It was an amazing journey as we developed a good community, not just in the blockchain Steemit but also outside the platform. Later, people seemed to find it boring to just do blogging and no activity within the platform, and that people started to lose interest.

And here comes Steemonsters, a game that greatly changes the perspective of every person in the community. At first, people are doubtful if a game can truly be integrated from a platform into a game. But still, the people in the community support the idea of the bright people behind Steemonsters. And successfully they launched the presale of those cards and I was able to buy a couple of Beta cards and I opened all of them, out of curiosity.

And when combining cards were introduced, I started combining them and later on, I was a bit discouraged after they introduced gold cards. Since I was hoping that those individual cards do have gold cards. I did manage to sell them into the market, those that I think have big values, and later on I gave some of my cards to a friend who really plays the card.

After some time, I did come back from the game and played it on my own. Later on, I started to love the game and got interested in it, so I spent more time playing the game as I could get something from the game out of playing it.

Duration of Participation

I have been an active community member of Steemit and later on Hive. I managed to purchase card packs during the beta time but I was not able to allocate much of my time playing it. But during Untamed expansion card packs, I was able to catch up and be active with the help of Team Possible, giving me a chance to learn how to play the game by their pilot system. It was really encouraging how they help newcomers and returnees of the game and actively monitor the progress of these players.

I was one of those people who benefited from Team Possible's activeness of helping players by lending them cards as they played the game, with the incentive of acquiring half of those rewards in every season. I was able to play many seasons out of those lend cards and I was able to start accumulating my own cards and started to buy my own card packs I felt happy about it as I started to enjoy playing the game while collecting on my own.

By that time, I focused on playing the game until a friend introduced a bot rental which I think can help me especially when I have less time playing already due to real-life responsibilities. By that, I rented the bot system while continuing to support the game by buying expansion packs such as Chaos Legion which I have collected a good amount of cards.

I am thankful that they have created bots for those people who are a bit busy with their work and yet want to still play the game. However, the bot rental system was stopped because of managed server issues which have been too costly to maintain and many players quit the game and even botting. That is why I took another shot at playing the game until such a new bot system Archmage was introduced and then I saw another opportunity to do the bot system again.

It was another great journey as I do bot using Archmage platform in Wild format while playing on my own on Brawl matches. As for the community of Splinterlands, I am not against the bot but I totally support if they removed the bot completely for the sake of fairness to those who play them manually. It's up to the people of the community and the people behind Splinterlands if they will continue to support the bot system or not. But I would say that the player base would drastically drop with bots out of the game and that potentially players will have difficulty queuing in their matches as there would be possibility limited pool of players in queue based on their rankings.

Removing bots could bring back the good prices of tokens and assets but we are not so sure yet because other players and investors don't look at it that way. Anyway, we have our own perspective of the game's economy and the possible future of it.

Time Spent in Splinterlands

At the start, I always focused on playing manually in the game which really took most of my time, I sacrificed my work, family and friends activities, and other responsibilities just to make sure that I could get better in the game while gaining some incentives in playing into it. It took me months before I realized that I had sacrificed much of that time and that I had less time for other activities that I should have taken or allocated more time instead.

Thankfully, a friend in discord introduced me to the bot system which greatly helped me focus on the other things in real life while still part of the game. I see that the bot system has good intentions if it is used for good reasons while it will bring bad if it is used for greedy purposes. Anyway, we have our own motives on why we use bots but for me, it gives me a reason to inhale out of the game and still be part of the game as well.

For now, I log in daily to the game check for my Brawls, and perform those matches before they expire. Those seasonal games will be on the bot side since seasonal games really take time and the rewards seem to dropped so low which I think that the bot should be there to facilitate instead since you will get less during these days. So focusing manually on the game is only good if you have pretty great cards and have high ranks for better rewards but if you have less powerful cards and less rank, I would say bot would be the best option.

Accomplishments

From the time I have actively played the game and purchased a lot of cards throughout the years, I have obtained a couple of good cards that are reliable both inside the battle and in the market. I have also achieved a good problem by playing Splinterlands through tokens, cards, and other assets earned.

It has been really wonderful to collect cards and at the same time, you can play them on the web. Not like those cards that you purchased locally in which you need to play someone else who has those and you can't sell them easily since you need to do meet-up or bidding from any e-shop and after that, you need to ship it once you have fully received the payment of your trade.

With the system that Splinterlands, I can easily sell my cards whenever I want. Especially if that card has a great value in the market. The beautiful thing about the market is that you can easily get the prices of the cards wherein you have already an idea of what price you want to sell them. But still, there is no guarantee that selling those cards in the market can be bought by other players. Always take note that you prices you set are always reasonable and fair price based on the functionality of the card.

I have also gained experience in almost overall gameplay mechanics of the game which is very hard at the start. From time to time, a lot of changes inside the game, and that is why you need to be well up-to-date on what's happening so that you won't be left behind whenever there is news or something. Sometimes, I check on my guild for updates just in case I missed something important about the game.

I also achieved activeness within the community, especially in my guild Team Possible Troops which I actively play. I have achieved a good amount of gladiator cards from what I have gained inside brawl battles. It might have been hard at first but totally throughout time I managed to take adjustments and with that, I started to help my guild in team wins.

Upcoming Goals

What I have in my is to accumulate more DEC Tokens, SPS Tokens, and other valuable assets within Splinterlands. A good accumulation until such time prices go up, then it would be ideal to sell some of them to reward sacrifices and holding of such assets. Another thing is to acquire more Land assets and other items related to the land game, as the implementation of such a game add-on is quite near and I am sure that there would be more hype within it and surely prices will go high due to demand for it.

I think the land prices right now being set by players are at their minimal declaration since we all know that land assets play a great role in the game in the future for it generates something that could be very valuable in terms of gameplay advantage. I am sure players within the Splinterlands will get their lands as much as land they can get especially when lands are almost at their release.

Another thing is that I am looking forward to the tower game of Splinterlands and trying to accumulate as much as assets as I can since I think that these new game mechanics will surely be addicting to old and new players. With that, I think prices go high as well since I see demand somehow once that game is released as well.

I will also try to collect those cards that I don't have since it boosts my selection option especially whenever there are too many rulesets in effect in a battle and with that choices of monsters will surely drop, wherein it leaves to less monsters for me to select one, in which I think a big disadvantage. Anyway, there is a renting system in Splinterlands but it is way different if you have acquired those assets since you have the lifetime to use those cards without playing anymore which is a cost effective as I can see it.

For Gold cards, I will just put it on my long-term goal since I know that prices on such cards are quite expensive and that my funds are a bit low for now. So I think focusing on the regular ones will be the best option for me and try to level up as much as I can so they can acquire more skills and abilities while boosting their potential health and attack as well.

There are so many things to mention about goals in Splinterlands and I think this is for now.

Advice for Beginners

My advice to beginners is that you need to grind hard and try to accumulate more cards from season rewards and daily rewards. Do not be discouraged by the amount of value you could get in the game, instead try to appreciate them so that you have the opportunity to gain more knowledge about the game while accumulating what you have gathered inside the game.

Accumulating cards now will give you big rewards in the future as value could go high due to possible demand and those assets that you have gathered old time will surely mark a great value. And I am sure that late-time collectors will get the opportunity to get those to fulfill their hobbies while playing as well.

Try to join a guild if you haven't since it will give you more information, inside and outside of the game. They will enhance your knowledge as well as you will get information in advance from game creators since most guilds are informed ahead of the updates or they are up-to-date with potential game changes. Being aware all the time will help you be well informed as prices of game tokens are dependent also on updates.

Lastly, continue to support the Splinterlands game by playing the game whenever your time possible. Try to buy packs as you have the opportunity to hold them or open them, anyway, it's up to you. But the important thing is that we players should make the game creators feel our presence so they too will be happy as they continue to make the game better for all of us.

Final Thoughts

Splinterlands is a growing game universe and potentially we will see soon how big the game will be once a land game and tower game comes in. What I am looking forward to is a world RPG based on Splinterlands will be a great add-on as well or a shooting game that gives more excitement to players that want more of Splinterlands.

Anyway, what may be the game creators are up to their minds is that I fully support them 110%. Good luck and more power to Splinterlands.
