Personally I use the same mechanic, if a game does not catch me from minute 1 I leave it but sometimes it has happened to me that I did not like it at first but I gave them a second chance by dedicating a few more hours and I have had great surprises. Lately I've tried to get out of my comfort zone trying indie games (recommended by friends) and I've had very good surprises.

I think I need to get out of my comfort zone to have other experiences when playing video games, but due to my little knowledge on the subject, I end up not doing that.
Anyway, someday I'm gonna change my mind, haha!
Hive's posts about videogames have helped me a lot to get to know games that I didn't know existed and to see first hand the experience of another, then it's just a matter of being encouraged.
That's nice. We can explore the gaming community to get more knowledge about video games.
