Hey everyone, when I was younger (in the time before I became a father) I was a hardcore gamer, playing nerdy games like VGA Planets and Transport Tycoon and later moving in to different games in the Call of Duty series.
Later I started playing World of Warcraft but I couldn't afford paying the monthly fee required for this, so I went to different Blizzlike private servers, meaning the game play is the same and you still need to level up, because leveling up is the best thing about this game I think. 😍
I know many players better like the level 80 game play running dungeons together, well, to be honest, the highest I ever got on another server was a level 79 Bloodelf Paladin but then the server stopped working, that's the bad thing about private servers, well, a good reason to start fresh on another one!
The last period I was playing a lot of World of Warcraft was about 13 years ago, when my wife was pregnant with our first child, she likes the game as well but isn't an experienced gamer, so we used to log in to the game every day after work and head out in to the world of Azeroth!
Then later, my kids became of the age they started liking these type of games and to my surprise, the same WoW server was still working, as well as my account, I explained them how to play and it's a good way for them to learn English as well, my account has a full list of 10 characters (max for this server) that felt quite abandoned until two weeks ago...
The only time I logged in was to transfer gold to my kids account to help them out.
Then, two weeks ago when my youngest daughter (aged 11) who has a gamers mindset, mostly playing Roblox Bedwars, which modern kid doesn't 😂 was bored with her existing games, so I asked her, why not start with World of Warcraft now you're older to really understand the game?
And so she did! She logged in to her account and made a new character, doing a lot better than when she was younger of course, sometimes asking me questions.
And with seeing the game and explaining things to her how to travel from one area to another, things started to itch again... 😁
World of Warcraft sucks up a LOT of time which was holding me back, but I figured I might as well dive in to it again and see how it goes, so I asked my daughter if she would like it if I resumed playing again and if she wanted to start a new character together, she couldn't be more happy!
And so we started, in this server we can start cross faction characters, meaning you can play both Horde as well as Alliance (but they can't sent items to the other faction).
Most of my playing hours is in Horde characters, and I know the starting grounds and basically anything up to level 35 well, so we decided to go for an Alliance character this time, my daughter picked a Rogue which she never played before, and I went for one of my favorite characters, a new gnome mage, Mechamancer was born!
To be fair, this game never gets old, after all these years it's still a lot of fun! The server is still alive, but less crowded than 10 years ago, which is fine because we like playing PVE and don't do a lot of dungeons anyway,
Currently, we traveled to the Wetlands where we are questing now to further level up before traveling to StrangleThorn Vale, we are already at level 27!
It's great once you reach level 20, so you can learn to ride a mount, it's much faster than traveling on foot!
So, now my oldest daughter wanted to start playing together as well, she's not a real gamer and needs more help so leveling up a new character together with her is a great way for her to better learn the game as well as have fun together.
With her, I started to level up a Dranei Priest yesterday, and she choose to be a Dranei Mage and we are already at level 12. 🤗
What about you? Have you ever played World of Warcraft and which version?
I'm sure the original server is even more fun, but for $15 monthly for every account, it's pretty costly I think so this is a nice free way to still be able to play, and I think I like the old version from this server better.
In April this year once Splinterlands has a rotation in the Modern League, I'm getting more spare time because I will leave the bot play one of my two accounts so I will have extra time for other fun things 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
I recently thought about starting with an MMO again as well. But I always favored Dark Age of Camelot more. It would have been WoW though. But I am afraid it will either take too mich time or I don't have enough time.
Yes it's was holding me back as well.. an hour of questing is nothing... also it's more fun when you're not playing alone. If you ever want to get in to WoW for free let me know 😁
Some of my best memories of World of Warcraft are from this expansion. Love it.
It would be very cool to see a web3 game like this, I'm watching ChronoForge which is similar, but I don't think it's playable just yet
I thought that you're only into splinterlands, howmany other games you play apart from splinterlands?
Splinterlands is my first love as far as gaming goes, and I grind my daily energy down on both accounts before I touch any other games, for now only Splinterlands and World of Warcraft 🙂
Nice bro, keep on playing
