Review of “Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro” // Análisis de “Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro”

Just a year after its successful first installment as a VideoGame for the PlayStation, our friends from Activision brought us a sequel to the adventures of our favorite wall climber, of course we talk about the game “Spider Man 2: Enter Electro”. Where we will accompany our favorite arachnid in a new adventure facing various villains to be able to save the day once again, this time as the name of the game indicates, the main villain will be Electro, who will have several minions to try to reach his evil objectives.

Tan solo una año después de su exitosa primera entrega como VideoJuego para la PlayStation, nuestros amigos de Activision nos trajeron una secuela de las aventuras de nuestro trepa muros favorito, por su puesto hablamos del juego “Spider Man 2: Enter Electro”. En el cual acompañaremos a nuestro arácnido favorito en una nueva aventura enfrentándonos a varios villanos para poder salvar el día una vez más, en esta ocasión como el nombre del juego lo indica, el villano principal será Electro, quien contará con varios secuaces para tratar de lograr sus malvados objetivos.

The story begins when we see the one who will become the villain of this installment, Electro, who steals a power source called the "Bio-Nexus Device", which will make him much more powerful and help him execute his evil plan, this traces the line of action that we will follow throughout the game, which consists of following the electro’s steps and collecting information that leads us to where he is and discovering what else he needs to carry out his evil plan, this road leads us to face hundreds of thugs who will try to destroy us, but not before wreaking havoc in the city or anywhere, which we will have to avoid to save civilians, we will also meet old Spider Man villains, who have allied with Electro to help him complete his plans and will serve as the bosses to defeat, they will gradually reveal Electro's plan to us until we reach the Museum where the sapphire called the "Tear of Zeus" is exhibited which will give the necessary power to the Bio-Nexus to make electro more powerful, once in the museum, Spider Man confronts Electro in his most powerful version, finding his weakness and managing to prevent him from carrying out his evil plan to save the day once again.

La historia comienza cuando vemos al que se convertirá en el villano de esta entrega, Electro, quien roba una fuente de energía llamada el “Dispositivo Bio-Nexo”, el cual lo hará mucho más poderoso y lo ayudará a ejecutar su malvado plan, esto traza la línea de acción que seguiremos a lo largo de todo el juego, la cual consta de seguir la pista de electro e ir recolectando información que nos lleve a su paradero y a descubrir que más necesita para llevar a cabo su malvado plan, esta travesía nos lleva a enfrentarnos con cientos de matones que intentarán acabar con nosotros, no sin antes causar estragos en la ciudad o en cualquier lugar, lo cual tendremos que evitar para salvar a los civiles, también nos veremos con viejos villanos de Spider Man, quienes se han aliado con Electro para ayudarlo a completar sus planes y fungirán como los jefes a derrotar, ellos poco a poco nos irán revelando el plan de Electro hasta que lleguemos al Museo donde se exhibe el zafiro llamado la “Lágrima de Zeus” el cual le dará la potencia necesaria al Bio-Nexo para hacer a electro más poderoso, una vez en el museo, Spider Man se enfrenta a Electro en su versión más poderosa, encontrando su debilidad y logrando impedir que lleve a cabo su malvado plan para salvar el día una vez más.

En cada nivel estaremos en la presencia de un objetivo determinado, tendremos que llegar algún lugar en específico, buscar algún matón para que nos de información, apagar un incendio, evitar la explosión de una bomba o el choque de un avión con civiles a bordo, entre muchas cosas más, no faltarán los niveles donde tendremos que perseguir algún objetivo como un helicóptero, resolver algún puzle para encontrar el camino que nos ayude a seguir adelante en nuestra misión, todo esto mientras enfrentamos cientos de matones armados, robots y todo tipo de enemigos que tratarán de evitar a toda costa que lleguemos a nuestro destino.

As I already mentioned, in addition to our main antagonist, Electro, we will face a series of bosses whom we will face in different situations, they will provide us with some information to discover the plan of electro and his whereabouts or we will simply get them out of the way to get to Electro, each boss has his abilities and weaknesses that we will have to discover as soon as possible to finish them off, each one in a different scenario and situation that will make the dynamics of the fight not at all monotonous.

Como ya les comenté, además de nuestro principal antagonista, Electro, nos enfrentaremos a una serie de jefes a los cuales enfrentaremos en diferentes situaciones, ellos nos brindarán alguna información para descubrir el plan de electro y su paradero o simplemente los quitaremos del camino para llegar a Electro, cada jefe tiene sus habilidades y debilidades que tendremos que descubrir lo más pronto posible para acabar con ellos, cada uno en un escenario y situación distinta que hará que la dinámica de pelea no sea nada monótona.

The first one presented to us is "Shocker", with his special suit that produces shock waves that inflict great damage, he is confronted in a deposit that is about to explode due to some barrels, it is full of boxes that can help us defeat him.

El primero que se nos presenta es “Shocker”, con su traje especial que produce ondas de choque que infringen un gran daño, al mismo se le enfrenta en un depósito que está a punto de explotar debido a unos barriles, el mismo está lleno de cajas que nos pueden ayudar a derrotarle.

Al igual que en la entrega anterior contaremos con una diversidad de trajes especiales que seremos capaces de utilizar durante el juego, los mismo proporcionan distintas habilidades a Spider Man, como una mayor fuerza o resistencia, mayor cantidad de cartuchos de telaraña, entre otros, y otros al contrario se encargan de desvirtuar las habilidades del superhéroe para tener una experiencia mucho más desafiante a la hora de completar el juego y otros simplemente sirven para tener otro estilo a la hora de jugar. Para acceder a toda la gama de trajes especiales, es necesario completar el juego varias veces en varias dificultades o realizar alguna misión específica cumpliendo con algún requisito especial que desbloqueará el traje, también es necesario completar el circuito de entrenamiento completamente para acceder a alguno de ellos. Contaremos con la presencia de trajes de la entrega pasada con algunas adiciones.

The game has a wide variety of elements that can entertain us for hours with the adventures of Spider Man, however, it came with the weight left by its predecessor, which is a great game that deserved a sequel equal or better than it, due to this last point, the game received strong criticism, since it lacks creativity in many aspects, as it is similar to its predecessor in many points; the dynamics of the game do not change too much, the way in which we can stick to the walls, the style of fighting against the enemies or the way of using our spider web do not present much variation, as well as its graphic engine that is basically the same, the fighting style changes a little, but beyond that, it does not present much innovation in the gameplay. Without a doubt, our friends at Activision got too attached to their winning formula that made them succeed with the first installment, however, many accuse them of sinning as conservatives in this aspect where they should have risked a little more, to give a more renewed touch to this great game. The story, while good, has divided opinions when it comes time to compare with its predecessor, all this adds up for many to accuse it of simply being a new story with the base of the first game without much news to offer.

El juego cuenta con una gran variedad de elementos que nos pueden entretener por horas con las aventuras de Spider Man, sin embargo, venía con el peso que dejó su predecesor, el cual es un gran juego que ameritaba una secuela igual o mejor, debido a este último punto el juego recibió fuertes críticas, ya que carece de creatividad en muchos aspectos, pues resulta similar a su predecesor en muchos puntos; las dinámicas del juego no cambian demasiado, la manera en que podemos adherirnos a las paredes, el estilo de pelea contra los enemigos o la manera de usar nuestra telaraña no presentan mayor variación, así como su motor grafico que es básicamente el mismo, los combos de lucha si cambian un poco, pero más allá de ello, no nos presenta mucha innovación en la jugabilidad. Sin lugar a dudas, nuestros amigos de Activision se apegaron demasiado a su fórmula ganadora que los hizo triunfar con la primera entrega, sin embargo, muchos los acusan de pecar de conservadores en este aspecto donde nos se atrevieron a arriesgar un poco más, para darle un toque más renovado a este gran juego. La historia si bien es buena, tiene opiniones dividas cuando llega la hora de compararse con la de su predecesor, todo esto suma para que muchos lo acusen de simplemente ser una nueva historia con la base del primer juego sin mayor novedad que ofrecer.

"Spider Man 2 Enter Electro" is undoubtedly a great video game that works as a great sequel to its predecessor but without going beyond it, maybe the opinion of the critics would be a little different if this had been the first installment of the video games of the arachnid, however, is still being a great adventure that puts us at the feet of Spider Man going through all kinds of obstacles to stop his enemies, offers a simple story, which presents us with a clear objective from the beginning, allows us to choose among four difficulties that can make us invest a good amount of hours to test our skills, as the levels are not impossible, require certain precision and skills that make the game a challenge, added to the attractiveness that the game presents us to get to get all the costumes or comics available, which is undoubtedly a motivation to demand us reach the 100% of the game and leave us enough elements to not get bored in the path.

Personally, it is an experience that although it could offer more, it is quite entertaining and keeps us a few hours in fron of the TV to reach our goals. All this accompanied by the humorous comments of Spider Man, who does not lose his sense of humor no matter how complicated the situation is and knows how to annoy his enemies and make us laugh at the same time, while we listen to the legendary Stan Lee who is the narrator of all the events that occur during the game.

“Spider Man 2 Enter Electro” es sin duda un gran video juego que funciona como una gran secuela de su predecesor pero sin llegar a superarlo, tal vez la opinión de la crítica sería un poco diferente si esta hubiese sido la primera entrega de los video juegos del arácnido, sin embargo, no deja de ser una gran aventura que nos pone en los pies de Spider Man atravesando toda clase de obstáculos para llegar a detener a sus enemigos, ofrece una historia sencilla, que nos presenta un objetivo claro desde el principio, nos deja escoger entre cuatro dificultades que pueden hacer que invirtamos una buena cantidad de horas para probar nuestras habilidades, ya que los niveles si bien no resultan imposibles, requieren cierta precisión y habilidad que hacen del juego un desafío, sumado al atractivo que nos presenta el llegar a obtener todos los trajes o los comics disponibles, lo que sin duda es una motivación para que nos exijamos llegar al 100% y nos deja suficientes elementos para no aburrirnos en el camino.

En lo personal, resulta una experiencia que si bien pudo ofrecer más, es bastante entretenido y nos mantiene unas cuantas horas pegados al televisor para cumplir con nuestros objetivos. Todo esto acompañado de los jocosos comentarios de Spider Man, quien no pierde su sentido del humor por complicada que sea la situación y sabe fastidiar a sus enemigo y hacernos reír al mismo tiempo, mientras escuchamos al legendario Stan Lee quien es el narrador de todos los sucesos que ocurren durante el juego.
