Dredge - Catching More Rare Fish in Stellar Basin!

in Hive Gaming5 days ago

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

Let's continue my journey in Dredge, a fishing adventure with a sinister subplot. Last time around, I was able to help a researcher in the Stellar Basin with some research and gave her a sample that she wanted us to collect. In return, she gave us a prototype part which can be used in the research station to distract the giant squid-like monster in the middle of the basin so we can explore freely and fish out more unique fish from there.

For now, we just had to go there and use that generator and grab all the fish samples the researcher wanted us to collect.

I saw a hammerhead shark in deep water. I don't think I ever saw one before and there were no options to catch it yet. They were just cosmetic probably, like the dolphins and huge whales I keep seeing.

Reaching the research outpost was easy and I wasn't too scared of the night anyway. This place looks amazing at night. All the glowing flora and fauna here make it very beautiful.

The research outpost was abandoned and had a generator that required installing the prototype part in it. Once, I installed that part and started it. The tower emitted a strange frequency that would save me from that monster.

Once this is active, it gives me a good window to go and fish. I found the LooseJaw instantly. That's one sample done out of the four. I dredged out a research part from here too but no signs of the others.

I moved on and to my surprise got to a place where I caught the Hammerhead shark. It was huge and took up a lot of space in my cargo and it just destroyed my idea that this could not be caught. Now I am thinking maybe those dolphins can be caught too. I caught some 'Baracuda' too, they were new to me as well.

All of these were sold to the Travelling Merchant but I saved just one sample of the Loosejaw for the researcher and kept looking for the others.

On the same night I got a Fangtooth and a Cursed Fangtooth from these waters along with another big hammerhead shark.

The next night I went to a slightly different location in search of the other samples and I found an Anglerfish. Not just one, there were like 10 of them in two small groups.

I found some strange-looking stones on the side of a cliff. I have seen something like this before in the Marrows but when you interact with them nothing happens just like those. I guess, you need some kind of special quest item to unlock whatever it is behind them. Could this be a cave entrance?

I went back to the Old Fortress where the researcher resides. I wanted to submit my samples there. But one of the samples went bad and I couldn't submit that one.

So, it was just the Fangtooth for now. I didn't think this quest would be tough. I thought I would find all of those easily close to the creature.

I looked at my research tab and saw that the last two rods which were not accessible were now accessible and can be researched. I must have unlocked them after the interaction with this researcher and didn't realise it. The first rod catches only Abyssal and Hadal while the last one can catch Oceanic as well. I had enough research parts to research both of them.

I still needed something for 'Hadal' fish and now I got it. It was time for me to go and look for the Travelling Merchant and get the new rod installed. My build was a versatile rod that covered Coastal, Shallow, Mangrove and Volcanic followed by a Fathomless Winch to catch Abyssal, Hadal and Oceanic and a tempered mesh net for passive fishing that catches Volcanic and Coastal. This one was optional but was good to have.

With these three installed, I can now catch all the basic types of fish in any water and don't have to change my build again and again.

I bought some crab pots as well. Maybe one of them can be caught by using the pots only and not by the rods. I found an interesting-looking Starfish. It is called Crown of Thorns.

I caught a fresh Loosejaw for the sample and delivered it to the researcher before it rotted. The other crab pots didn't give me much relief either. So, I bought a few more and spread them in different locations with varying depths. Maybe these will be able to catch some good stuff.

I got the Spiny Lobster. This design looks familiar, it reminds me of a stone slab that required some samples and one of them looked like this. But that was on the other side of the map. Perhaps, this looks similar to another one found only in those waters.

This quest turned out to be much more challenging and time-consuming than I expected. Let's see how many more days it will take me to get the last two samples.

Thanks for reading.

Until next time...

Never got that spiny lobster (nor a lot of rare species haha), I gotta do with when I go back to the game for the DLCs, but eveything Abyssal or Hadal that I have to fish gives me the creeps, I'm a coward

I'm curious about the engines you have. Isn't it better to have large engines instead of small ones or is it a matter of space?

I would recommend, try to sum the numbers of the engines, the higher the total the better for you=more speed, like, two small engines that gives you +15 each are better that one big that uses the same size but only gives you +25.

(hope my explanation worked haha)

Lol another game! I love fishing. Here is another game ,you may like.

I don't like that one though lol

🤣🤣

Congratulations, you have received support from Ecency through curator @reachdreams

Seems like fixing the research outpost was worth it.

A thought just popped in my head reading this. What if this is real can you catch a fish on a boat like this?😀

I never fished in my life, just in virtual life. lol

Lolzz but imagine how you'll feel going in for real
