Dredge - Exploring a New Biome

in Hive Gaming7 days ago

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

In the last post on this Dredge series, I found a couple of interesting Rock Slab puzzles, one of which required a few Cods and the other some crabs that I never found. Along with this puzzle, I met with some dangerous fish who attacked me and didn't want me to explore the volcanic part of the map.

I found a lot of raw materials for my last upgrade to the vessel. Adding an extra 4 cargo spaces to my hull. But I was short of just a couple of lumbar for now. In the money department, I had a couple of thousand and there was no need to fish just making money.

I had some more close encounters with those devil fish. Searching the ruins for the raw material was not easy because of these fish guards. xD

You can somehow run away from the little ones but they call for backup and a giant fish appears. Classic case of kids calling for help from their mom. But she wasn't persistent and you can lose her if you use the haste speed.

And when I came back here, it was gone. Phew! Now, I could dredge out all the raw materials I need from this place.

In these ruins, you will find some blocked paths that can be unlocked if you have explosives. But I still had to get my hands on them. I didn't know where I would get these explosives. One of the paths was blocked by Debrie in the Swamps as well.

After all this searching, I was short of just one lumbar piece and went in search of it.

I saw another shipwreck and found some cool items, but not the ones that I wanted. xD

My search for a lumbar continued and it was already night. I was going back to the Marrows as there are some spots where you can dredge them out. I continued searching even at night. Nights don't feel that bad now after a lot of upgrades and lights that I installed on my boat. The chances to slam into other boats or rocks are way less now. My guy is not easily scared too.

After finding the last lumbar at night, I went straight to the dock to install the last upgrade. Look at my completed upgrades tree. Everything is upgraded, now I will focus on getting the upgraded rods.

I still have a lot of core active quests one of those is about to be completed. I found a stone tablet in the ruins of that temple and looks like the trader at the Little Marrow has something to say about that.

But the trader just told us what we already knew and wants us to find more of these. He didn't say how many there are or what will be the reward. Maybe he did mention it at the start but I forgot.

One of the things that intrigued me the most is the dark sticky thing that you can see on the surface. Fish in these spots cannot be caught by the normal rots and need the upgraded ones from the Iron Rig.

I went towards the southwestern group of islands. I had never been to this place before and the vegetation is much different than other places. We found different fish varieties even in the shallow waters here.

I saw a couple of shipwrecks and a place where there were a lot of suitcases on the shore. One of them was a big suitcase labelled Photography Equipment. I grabbed it thinking it would be useful to someone.

My net also caught some glowing jellyfish. They were so beautiful and I am guessing it could be caught only at night. I am not scared of the dark anymore. We can run away from danger at extremely high speeds if we have to.

We docked near an abandoned campsite to rest and search this site for valuables. I was right in the middle of the Stellar Basin and Gale Cliffs. I have been to Gale Ciffs once but had to run away after an unfortunate encounter with a big sea monster near a waterfall. So, my next target was to explore the other side, the Stellar Basin.

There is a big question mark at the bottom of the map too. I am not sure when it appeared but I want to go there and check what's in that place. I never looked at the map enough to realise that. So far I am just going where I want and it has been a bit chaotic but fun. I guess it is time to get more organised and tackle all the ongoing quests.

Until next time...

Hey, I know I've said that I'm not into games like this but after that, I've been keeping an eye out for your posts about this game and I'm kind of enjoying it.

I guess my taste got fixed to one type of game after playing a lot of Far Cry games and Red Dead Redemption. My main issue with this game was the animated graphics. But after exploring it a little bit. I believe I'm gaining interest in this one.

I can't blame Far Cry and Red Dead Redemption, they are great games. 😁

Your adventure is getting more and more exciting, from what I can see you are hooked to the helm of your ship. The night captures look great, to tell the truth those improvements you made to the boat have helped you a lot, you can see that the light penetrates a lot to where you want to illuminate. Regarding those improvements you have been making, isn't there one that allows you to make your boat bigger?

Yeah, it allows me to hold more things on my boat. Storage is very limited in the game. If you played Resident Evil 4, it has the same kind of inventory, you have to fit everything there.

I've never played Resident Evil 4, but from the way you say it I understand how limited that inventory can be.
