Dredge - Mangroves and the Traveling Merchant

in Hive Gaming22 hours ago

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

I am here again to share my fishing adventure's progress in Dredge. So far, I am enjoying it very much. Last time, I helped a bunch of guys set up a big plant on top of the ocean surface, which helps study the local fishing population and other likely shady things for a big corporation. But we don't ask questions. A fisherman like us is happy to sell our catch in the middle of an ocean without going all the way back to the Marrows and selling rotten fish...lol.

We are piling up a lot of tasks and quests from a bunch of NPCs, but I am not too keen on focusing on the story mission and rather just exploring and trying to catch different types of fish in this game.

I wanted to explore the area of the Iron Rig. I went towards the north-west part of the map. This place is called Twisted Strands which was one of the five major locations in the game. I met a Traveling Merchant here on the Rickety Pontoon. She was delighted to see me there. I am assuming each of the five major locations has some kind of merchant where you can sell your fish easily without having to go to a different major location.

She gave me another quest. She was looking for four rare fish which she wanted to track. Perfect! More quests...lol

Well, you could ask her the location of each of those fish but she would say some alien names which I have not even been to so I put this mission on the freezer. This will be looked at some other day. For now, I wanted to explore these Mangroves.

This was a tough place to traverse. Narrow streams with overgrown mangroves and roots extruding out of the water. You had to go slowly here. I tried to pass it quickly and bumped into one of the roots.

We found some stranded here. He is an Airman, who crashed here due to the fog along with some other soldiers. All of his companions were killed one by one by a mysterious monster which they calls 'Mind Sucker'. He now wants to hunt those and gave us the task of bringing the Dog Tags if we find any around here. He gave us a research part too.

I was running out of money so I decided to fish just next to the Traveling Merchant. I fished for two whole days taking little to no rest in between.

I found more shipwrecks and dredged out some more crates to be sold to the Iron Rig.

But this was a bad decision. It was almost night time and I was a bit far from my safety. But in the dark and foggy night, I spotted a light in the distance. It was coming from an anchored boat close to an island. What is it doing there in the middle of the night?

It was a frightened courier who never showed us his face and didn't want to go too. He claims that a huge Leviathan is in deep water. This guy wanted us to help him and deliver a package to the Little Marrow. But we had no space for this 2x2 package and I didn't want to toss up the crates.

But I got punished by the game for rejecting it. The same night I was attacked by a monster who came and hit my boat and went away damaging the hull which disabled our engine and we lost the crate. Damn! That was a long journey to the Marrows. I had to go back to the Marrows to repair it. Sold all of my catch to the Fishmonger and it still wasn't enough for a new rod that I researched.

Had to fish for a couple of days to get some extra cash. I found a new flag around this time too. This is the first flag I dredged out of the ocean. I like the design but the colour could be a bit better. A black and white flag would look much better here.

There are still a lot of upgrades to be made. I am yet to buy the rod which helps me catch the Mangrove fish. A lot to be done in this game.

Until next time...

Looking like, these missions are pilling up. I think you should take care of them soon so the game won't stuck somewhere.

Fishing at night seems like really dangerous. What if you cannot see a tiny rock and damage your ship? Repair money! Oh no!

Ohhh I remember seeing when they were going to release this game, it seems excellent but seeing opinions I think the story is a little weak, I love how it looks, I'd love to play it but I'm really afraid of being disappointed with this game what do you say I encourage? I already passed up two good offers to buy it

Sending you an Ecency curation vote!

It looks like you’re making great progress in this game. The mangrove area looks cool.
Good luck with those upgrades and I can’t wait to see how your upgrades change the game.
