Exploring Alma XII: A Toxic Beauty in No Man’s Sky

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

I installed No Man's Sky again just to play again and enjoy this ambitious title with amazing graphics. Now I can afford to bump up the quality to High and still play at consistent 75 FPS. I would like to tell you about a beautiful ringed planet in the Urihar-Kulimi System.

This is a small system with only 3 planets with the Gek as its dominant lifeform. Out of these three planets, my eyes went straight to the ringed planet. I would also go straight to the ringed ones, they look much cooler.

Because the game has quintillions of planets, almost every planet you visit is an untouched one that has never been explored, and this ringed planet, Alma XII, was one of those. I liked the name so I didn't try to change it.

The first change I noticed since the last time I played the game is the amount of clouds. Also, the increased quality helped a lot. These small changes to the game have helped it look more and more beautiful over time.

The hazard on this planet was Toxicity. There are only a few planets with good living conditions and most of them have something or the other which makes living difficult. This one was too hazardous and there were frequent storms.

I would have spent only a few minutes analysing the planet life and rocks before I had a storm approaching warning. This storm would make the toxicity even higher levels, and I had to go down into the caves to continue my exploration.

What I was trying to explore?
Well, everything from its flora and fauna to the structure. I was just exploring and trying to get the hang of this planet.

It was a beautiful planet with a lot of colorful plant life everywhere.

Even the fauna here have evolved into some kind of plant-like being. Look at this one. It was hopping around slowly. Weighing over 300 kg too. But thankfully it was not hostile towards me.

Night time is so damn beautiful in this game. Those big flowery things were shining and producing some gases at night.

I flew around the planet in my recently bought starship to look for any signs of water. But I couldn't find any. At least my starship was looking good...right?

There were many flying creatures here, nothing unusual than what we find on Earth though. The unusual was a tentacled monster walking on the surface. It was busy doing its things and was very shy. Never wanted to face me.

Found a building in the middle of nowhere. It was some kind of an ancient Gek building which gave me more lore about the Gek and helped me learn a few more of their words.

Later, I discovered some old outposts and mined some resources. There were many Ammonia deposits on this planet.

I saw my first double rainbow on this planet as well. I didn't know this game had double rainbows too...Now I wonder if there are planets or weather conditions where I can see a triple rainbow or more?

After exploring more, I saw the debris of the Freighter. We were able to extract some of the logs from the system, and it was painful to see the logs just before the crash happened. One thing I must say is that there are a lot more things in each planet now, which was not the case just a year ago or perhaps, I got lucky with this planet?

I searched the entire crash site and found cargo pods and looted them. The radiation leaks were kind of scary but nothing our space suit cannot filter out.

The only thing I would say that was missing from this planet was lack of sentient activity and hostile creatures. This was a largely peaceful experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

It was time to move on from Alma XII, maybe I will pay it a visit later. It will go in my top 5 planets for sure. I had a lot of fun. With this planet discovered, I might go for another one from the same system. Or I might jump on to another system and explore there. But along the way I have a huge pile up of ongoing missions and objectives. I need to take care of them sooner than later, especially the main campaign.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...

Man, what stunning landscapes you have captured, especially that creature, it looks like a giant tentacled mushroom.

It was scary but he turned out to be cute. The way he hopped to walk was funny.

No Man Sky is amazing. It's very interesting the construction of the worlds and all the variations there are of everything.

Indeed, Ringed planets always have that magical and cinematic vibe, an eye-catching view.
And, of course, the developers have improved the game's visuals over time.

I'm just imagining after the whole Metaverse thing happens, how this guy will look like if it was with virtual reality and argumented reality, it's already a pretty sick game man 🔥💪

It has tremendous graphics bro, I would like to play it someday
