Mining in Terraria is a lot of fun, digging deeper and deeper in search of precious ores is very addictive, to say the least. Many secrets lie underground and one such secret was revealed by a fairy. A little fairy just came to me and looked like it wanted me to follow after it. So, I followed it and it led me to a hidden chest location.
I clicked on the chest in excitement to find some precious loot but I was greeted by a big boom which killed me. What a troll chest!
I know I am going to die in a lot of weird ways in this game, The last time I died from a simple plant and this time an inanimate object got me...LOL
I said no mining and came up to start an adventure on the surface. I have yet to experience all the biomes and different plants I can go to. I moved to the right of my spawn and entered a desert biome.
I chopped the trees as they were different from my spawn biome. I had to fight some vultures along the way. These are all over the desert biome and although they are not tough to kill, they are such a nuisance. I tried to run away from them as well but they fly and chase after you so you have to stop and kill them.
I saw a glowing plant under the sand, thought it was an important item and started digging. Making a tunnel through sand is just impossible, the loose sand falls over and you have to mine all the sand blocks. It took me quite a time until I realised that I had to just dig down until I got to the dirt and then make an easy tunnel. And in the end, it didn't matter as that plant was just a random plant with some light, what a waste of time and energy...lol
Further east to the desert biome is the Jungle biome with some lush green caves taking you to the depths of the world. I didn't go much deeper as I was just exploring. I chopped the unique tree that I found there. I found some chests with some random potions and other materials. I kept collecting everything I saw.
One of the coolest items was an "Arcane Aglet" which can be equipped and increases movement speed by 5%. I so wanted this as I felt the movement speed was a little lower. I also got a "can of worms". Not sure what I can do with that, but I will keep them handy in case they are super rare items.
The sun was starting to set now but there was still some daylight left for me to work around. Once the zombies start spawning I better get back to my base or I am dead meat in no time. Luckily I found a mirror (I forgot the name) which can transport me back to my spawn instantly. Otherwise, I would be freaking out at this point. XD
I was stopped by a big pool of water, it was getting dark now and there were a lot of fishes and possibly other deadly creatures in there so it would be dumb to go inside it not knowing how deep or long it was... I collected some bamboo growing close to it and teleported myself back to my base.
Usually, I go mining at night but I wanted to kill some zombies and other monsters that night. I also saw some stars falling from the sky, I wanted to collect those too!
I had a good iron bow and some arrows and killed a lot of zombies.
One of the coolest items I had was a "Ruthless Flinch Staff" which summons a bird to fight for me, I love to see it killing those monsters. I had no idea where I found this cool summoning staff but it was so good to have someone fight along with me.
There was a guide who fought alongside me with those zombies but it got killed and I had no idea if I could resurrect it or get a respawn of that guide. He was quite useful!
I was feeling confident now and roamed far away from my base in search of those fallen stars. On the western side, there is a deadly biome, I am not sure what is the name of this biome but there are stronger monsters, thorny bushes and trees.
It was almost daytime again and I was slain by "Eater of Souls", these guys just continuously spawn here and keep coming. Even my baby flinch was having a hard time keeping up with them.
I saw a deep dark cave and started descending into it. I was surprised to find out that my Pickaxe was not working on these blocks and I was kind of stuck with monsters constantly coming to take my life and a deep dark cave was below me. I had no ropes or hooks or anything. I died a couple of times trying to make a staircase.
I tried to go down and it took me an entire day of dying, respawning, travelling back to the cave and dying again. I was way underequipped to go down there and I realised it a little too late :)
It was a stormy night and rain was pouring down. I killed a few more zombies and went down into the mines to get me better ores and equip myself better to kill those 'Eater of Souls' faster.
Gold seems much rarer than silver in the mines. Fortunately, I found a big deposit of it. I found some Topaz too, not sure if I can craft a pickaxe with that but it seemed a rare find for me.
Travelling in a minecart is so much fun as well. You can cover a lot of distance quite quickly!
I will try to go deeper and find more rare items. I keep finding those big ears that increase my maximum health. There are some chests too deep in the mines which have some nice loot. I love to explore more of the mines. Surely, mining is one of the most satisfying parts of the gameplay for me. I want to go back to that pool of water and see if I can craft a raft or a boat and cross that lake.
I am liking it so far, can't wait to explore more of the world around me and dig deeper!!
Thanks for reading...
Until next time...
