Glontstone has forsaken the Elden Ring in favor of a Maiden

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

Glontstone has now completed her journey through the Lands Between and has helped deliver the lands into a new ago. In aiding and being aided by Ranni the Witch we have delivered the world into a new age. The Age of Stars.

A perilous road

The road has been long and perilous indeed. Dozens of bosses have been defeated and hundreds of deathscreens has been seen.

The last stretch of the game through through Crumbling Farum Azula and the Capital of Ash was quite rough. The Godskin Duo gave me little resistance due to the help of Black Knife Tiche and Recusant Bernahl and I downed them on my very first attempt. This was quite surprising and also extremely satisfying as I was expecting it to be a boss I would be stuck at for a while.

Maliketh however gave me more troubles. His first phase is relatively easy seeing as he has a fair amount of downtime to get some spells and swings in. I mostly stuck close to him for this phase and used Adula's Moonblade to damage him. The second phase however is much worse. He's so fast and pretty much immediately closes the gaps between us which makes long wind up spells hard to cast. I had to stick to Adula's Moonblade and Glintstone Icecrag for this one.

I got to see the screen above a few times and it really stung to see his health bar that low. In the end though I got him down and was able to claim the Rune of Death

The Capital of Ash

The last stretch of the game holds my favorite bosses in the game. Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All Knowing is pretty meh and I easily blasted him on my first try. He hits like a truck but barely has any health which I made short work of.

Godfrey and Hoarah Loux is something else though. This is perhaps my favorite fight in the game due to the pacing. The boss has cool attacks that gets harder and harder to dodge as the fight progresses. For first phase I stuck close to him and blasted his ass with Adula's Moonblade. I feel like I can do this phase almost perfectly now which is really satisfying.

The second phase was definitely worse due to the pure speed and intensity of the bosses attacks. I had to rely a lot on Tiche tanking the boss for this phase and me taking snipes with Loretta's Greatbow and Glintstone Icecrag whenever I could. He gave me a fair challenge but it didn't take to long for me end him.

The Elden Beast

The Elden Beast was pure living hell with this build. The Radagon phase is quite hard even with a summon seeing as he target switches in the middle of attacks. I feel like this is the one fight they designed properly to work with summons without being to easy. I had to practice this phase a lot before being able to consistently get into the Elden Beast phase.

And after all that I still had the hard part of it left. Elden Beast is really hard as a spellcaster and I can tell why @derangedvisions was struggling with this phase. He moves out of range of most of my spells pretty much all the time making it hard to get damage in. This goes against Tiche as well which is reliant on being up close and personal to get his damage done.

I did however eventually discover that the Rock Sling spell has a pretty ridiculous range. These rocks literally travel for miles so I had to rely on them to get my damage done. For the rare occasions I was up close to him I used Adula's Moonblade. After discovering this it only took me a few attempts to actually kill him. In total I think I struggled for close to 7 hours over 2 days with this boss fight.

Entering the Age of Stars

My goal for this playthrough was to get Ranni's ending by ushering the world into the Age of Stars. Her questline is quite long and I already did it on my main playthrough but without choosing the ending. This time I did.

This meant sacrificing the title of Elden Lord but instead to rule the world alongside Ranni. Out of the two endings I've seen so far this is definitely the coolest one. The world succumbing to flames and the Erdtree being completely destroyed was pretty cool to but the views in this ending cutscene was something else as could be seen from the first screenshot in this post.

And so ends the journey of Glontstone. She now rules alongside Ranni for as long as the Age of Stars will last. Her journey was almost 32 hours long which is currently my personal speed-run record. Only 31 hours and 35 minutes slower than Distortion 2's World Record.

Now I'm gonna start my third and last run of this game to get the main ending. I plan to create a Wolverine build by using claws which I think will be pretty cool. Stay tuned for this new and upcoming journey!

This game looks similar to Dark Souls. Is it similar in difficulty too? I have not played Dark Souls so far, but I saw other people playing it, and it looks very hard.

It might look similar because it's made by the same company on the same engine. 😛 The difficulty is definitely up there and some bosses are way harder than anything you'll meet in Dark Souls. At the same time you have a much bigger toolbox which means you can adjust more to each fight is needed. In Dark Souls you're more limited due to the linear nature of the game.

Man, I really need to pick up this game! Next run through you should do a no damage run xD/

If I tried that it wouldn't be THE next run. It would be the next 1000 runs attempting to do it. 😛

What about a speedrun? Haha.

!LOLZ.

I've had the thought but I don't think I would have fun doing the same thing over and over again like that. I'd rather play something else and make new experiences that way.

It looks a lot like the forest spirit from the movie "Princess Mononoke".

So Elden Ring has two endings?

Sounds like I need to see Princess Mononoke. I've seen a lot of other Studio Ghibli films.

There's actually 8 endings. 3 main endings and 1 of them kinda has 6 variants.

wow, that's one cool looking boss monster.. reminds me of the look of the nature spirit in princess monaoke..

I hadn’t heard of that before but I see the resemblance!

Yea that's what we want in the community.

I'd love to have time for games!! Life is too busy for me these days, with three kids and loads of commitments, but It's cool to see others going through their paces and watch along, as you can do with this post with all the screenshots - nice work man.

For me, this game is great. I play all the time and the game is absolutely brilliant. If anyone is looking for a good price for this game, I recommend this online store: https://royalcdkeys.com/products/elden-ring-eu-steam-cd-key
