To be fair I don't really see the necessity or any good reason why many of these game companies would add NFTs to their games. What good will it do in reality? I might be blind to something but I honestly don't see it. What I would want though was games in themselves to be NFTs like on Steam. Make me able to sell the games if I want to. Let the publisher take a cut if they want to.

These companies want to be a part of the technology in case it took off... Most of these companies are testing if NFTs are for them right now. (Testing with Action Figures is actually smart from Square Enix, but I think the timing and the way they're doing it are both bad.)
As for what NFTs will do to their games, I can't imagine something good happening from it.
NFTs in gaming are cool when they give "less" rights to the company, and more rights to the users, but I can't imagine Video Game companies that try to maximize profits, (which is all companies I know,) sacrificing any of their rights!
