Hades is great. I played it for hours on end when I first picked it up but now I just take a run every now and then. What makes me come back is the characters and the lore that you mention. Sure, dying is annoying but it's not so bad when you're curious about the next few lines of dialogue you're getting. It's been a while since my last run. Maybe I should do one before going to bet tonight. Love me a good Dionysus run.
I tend to pick gods randomly, I'm more concerned about meeting Sisyphus, Eurydice and Patroclus during a run, tbh:)))
When I finally beat the game once, I had a lot of damage boosts from Ares, Athena and Thanatos. Might experiment more from now on.
