the best week of my crypto-gaming life

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

Yesterday was the end of my Lost Relics halloween event grind.

Although the event goes on for a few more days, I've finished all of my major goals and put in a substantial grind. The time has come to rest.

I started playing Lost Relics during the last holiday event. I was a total n00b, in awe of the high level grinders like @tyranitarLR who were grinding and trading all kinds of high value NFT items.

It was amazing to come full circle and be that guy, streaming and grinding out the Halloween event and getting blessed by RNG. This was the best week of 2021 for me in terms of gaming.

The universe has dumped a fat load of rare NFT items all over my face. Let's assess the loot.

The Loot

Here's all of the NFTs I found during this event.

as always, remember that play2earn does not mean getting rich quick, I have been grinding this game for six months before this amazing week. this is not the exclusive reality of p2e, this is the very best part of it. DYOR!!

Drop #1 - Aegis of Erridus

With a utility effect of 5% damage reduction, this relic is good for reducing burst damage to avoid death but not as strong as other relics in terms of raw healing potential.

I think this relic is underrated because people fixate on its low heal potential, but underestimate the value of reducing burst damage. It could be a big deal in future updates with bigger bosses, co-op, etc.

In-Game Emporium Avg Value: 9 ENJ, or about $18

Drop #2 - Bane of Immortals

The best defense is a good offense, this ring is the epitome of that saying. I can use this whenever I get surrounded by enemies. Who needs to reduce damage when I can kill everything before it has the chance to attack more than once?

I'm still gearing up for the mythic level dungeons in Lost Relics. This item seems very strong (and OG players tell me it is) but I'll have to wait a little longer before I am ready to really use it and get a feel for it.

Of course, the value of this item is exciting. The clip from when it dropped is over here if you want to see my reaction.

Average in-game Emporium market value: 500 ENJ // $1000

Drop #3 - Inferno

Here's where things really got spicy. About 4 days after the Bane of Immortals dropped, I got this mythical rarity sword from another mob in the same dungeon.

It's just insanity. How did I get this blessed during the event?? This was definitely my week as far as RNG goes.

I don't know how strong the sword is, but I'm pretty sure it is strong as fuck. What I do know from my first few attempts at wielding this thing is that the visual effect is amazing, lighting up the map in Zenarthill Wasteland and making everything look so much better.

In-Game Emporium Market Value: 800 ENJ // $1600

Drop #4 - Necrotic Nightmare

This was supposed to be the big prize of the holiday event -- a legendary sword!! Of course I'm still pumped to get this thing. It's just funny that by the time I got a mark of death, the loot box "golden ticket" that allowed me to redeem for a grand prize, I had already gotten two mythical drops that are substantially rarer than this one.

Basically, I'm so lucky that the grand prize is just a drop in the bucket compared to the explosion of good drops that proceeded it.

Anyways, this was the final step of ultimate blessing with the game -- I was opening about 40 loot boxes, my last planned opening of the event. I barely expected anything. All of the sudden I had a Mark of Death pop into my inventory, I could barely believe it.

I haven't tried this sword yet but it'll probably be great for legendary level dungeons, the ones where I can't bring in my mythical-level Inferno but will still want a strong sword.

Also, since this is a two-handed sword, it's a nice companion to the one-handed Inferno. Both will be useful.

In-Game Emporium Market Value: 45 ENJ // $90

Conclusion

I am speechless at how lucky I got during this event.

Let's be clear: I grinded this game for about a thousand years throughout the year prior to this week. During those thousand hours, I did not get very lucky.

There's a lesson here about patience and hard work, but IDGAF to say it -- you should already know. Mainly I just want to say thank you to Cliff and everybody else who works on Lost Relics, this was a really fun week.

Shout outs to the Quixotic Flux twitch crew for keeping me company throughout the grind, as well as to the guild Yield Squad for great voice chat hangs during the longer grinds.

We did it!!
