Uno de mis juegos de video preferidos es la saga de “Legacy of Kain”.
Conocí este juego con su segunda entrega “Soul Reaver”. En este juego, se nos presenta a Kain, un vampiro que conquistó las tierras de Nosgoth con su ejército de Lugartenientes, quienes tenían a su vez sus propios clanes. Al inicio, vemos a Raziel, el primero de sus hijos vampiros, enfrentando un concilio donde muestra su evolución, dejando ver que han crecido un par de alas en su espalda. Ya que ellos no estaban permitidos evolucionar antes que su creador Kain, debería enfrentar un castigo.
En un aparente acto de envidia, Kain no sólo le arranca las alas delante de todos los demás, sino que ordena que lo arrojen al Lago de la Muerte. En el vórtice del eterno remolino que allí había, Raziel encuentra la muerte y la resurrección, la cual ocurre muchos años más tarde cuando es devuelto a la vida en forma espectral por un extraño ser llamado” Elder God”, quien le encomienda la misión de destruir a Kain y que de esa forma encuentre su venganza.
La saga entera de juegos tiene una trama sumamente interesante, con personajes muy bien desarrollados que hacen que la experiencia del jugador sea la de sumergirse en un mundo de guerra entre vampiros, humanos y otros entes mientras con cada diálogo se va encontrando una clave más para entender el complicado mundo de Nosgoth y sus habitantes.
Estuve durante un tiempo trabajando en un fancomic basado en este juego, sin embargo, tuve que ponerlo en hiatos mientras termino otras actividades. Espero retomarlo pronto y poderlo compartir en mi blog.
Acá les comparto una parodia que hice del intro del juego con los personajes en su versión chibi. Les recomiendo ver el intro original de Soul Reaver y escuchar el tema central del juego, “Ozar Midrashim”. Es realmente bueno, sobre todo si les gustan los juegos de video de supervivencia, tramas de vampiros y estilo gótico con cierto toque de Cyber Punk.

One of my favorite video games is the “Legacy of Kain” saga.
I got to know this game with its second game “Soul Reaver”. In this game, we are introduced to Kain, a vampire who conquered the lands of Nosgoth with his army of Lieutenants, who also had their own clans. At the beginning, we see Raziel, the first of his vampire children, facing a council where he shows his evolution, revealing that a pair of wings have grown on his back. Since they weren't allowed to evolve before their creator Kain, he should face punishment.
In an apparent act of envy, Kain not only rips off his wings in front of everyone else, but orders him to be thrown into the Lake of Death. In the vortex of the eternal whirlpool that was there, Raziel finds death and resurrection, which occurs many years later when he is brought back to life in a spectral form by a strange being called "Elder God", who entrusts him with the mission of destroy Kain and thus find his revenge.
The entire saga of games has an extremely interesting plot, with very well-developed characters that make the player experience one of immersing himself in a world of war between vampires, humans, and other entities, while with each dialogue one more key is found to understand the complicated world of Nosgoth and its inhabitants.
I was working on a fancomic based on this game for a while, however, I had to put it on hiatus while I finish other activities. I hope to resume it soon and be able to share it on my blog.
Here I share a parody that I made of the intro of the game with the characters in their chibi version. I highly recommend watching the original Soul Reaver intro and listening to the game's theme song, “Ozar Midrashim”. It's really good, especially if you like survival video games, vampire plots and gothic style with a touch of Cyber Punk.
