As I've mentioned in several previous posts, I've been spending a considerable amount of time on Pokémon TCG Pocket, the latest foray of Nintendo's biggest franchise into our mobile devices, with a simplified version of the classic card game that returns to its roots as the central focus of the experience: collecting.
And, while its game mechanics are questionable as well as the way in which micro-transactions have been implemented (remember that it is a free-to-play game in principle), I like to dedicate a couple of minutes a day to it in order to open the envelopes I have available, complete some missions to accumulate rewards, and why not, even celebrate a couple of casual battles.
Regarding the battles, in fact, there is a whole community that is quite passionate, with its own meta and strategies, something that makes me quite happy despite the fact that I have dedicated very little time to that modality.
Personally, I find it very enjoyable to “fish” for the cards I want, especially if we take into account that a new expansion will be released soon (called Mythical Island and with Mew as the protagonist) so the availability of cards from the previous expansion (Genetic Apex) can get a little complicated.
Cards like Gengar GX, Mewtwo Ex, or Moltres EX Full Art, are just some of my examples of my best pulls, although I am still waiting for other gems like Charizard EX, and why not: some golden card.
To be honest, I think there have been much more interesting approaches to the franchise for mobile devices and the iconic Pokémon GO is a perfect example of this. The presence of extra modes such as a trading system or the ability to open more envelopes daily without having to pay with real money is missed. However, it must be recognized that it is an experience in progress and things have the potential to happen as the months and years go by.
I have faith that time will make things better, and I’m glad to have been a part of Pokémon TCG Pocket from the beginning. Like many of you, I’m very excited about Mythical Island, and while it’s frustrating that it’s so hard to acquire new cards, that difficulty ends up making the accumulated achievements more exciting.

According to the official Pokémon site, the expansion will include 80 new cards, including classics missing from Genetic Apex like Mewtwo EX, Aerodactyl Ex, and Celebi, and will be released on December 17.

That's excellent, my brother is a big Pokémon fan and I hadn't noticed a game like this and if it has other new dynamics that they implemented, that makes it even better.
