While my favorite game in the franchise is Pokémon Heart Gold, I feel like there are very few titles in the world that I've spent more time on than Pokémon Fire Red, a brilliant remake that took all the virtues of the original games and adapted them perfectly to the Gameboy Advance.
Along with Emerald and the aforementioned Heart Gold, Pokémon Fire Red is one of the few games that I've completed. And it represents the time I came closest to completing the national pokédex.
While it may sound like a small thing (Considering that at the time there were only 151 creatures), I remember that it was a titanic task that also involved my younger brother with the other version of the game (Pokémon Leaf Green), considering that some specific creatures are exclusive to one version, and others require trades with real people to evolve.
Despite its simplicity, I feel that Pokémon Fire Red is one of the Pokémon games that provides a more coherent and satisfying experience, with challenges that vary in difficulty but a progression system that feels accessible from the beginning to the end.
While acquiring most of the creatures is relatively simple, there are a good number of special creatures that will make things more difficult (the most notable cases being the trio of legendary birds and Mewtwo)
The only funny thing about this playthrough is that I went to the trouble of giving nicknames to several of my captured Pokémon, and I'm honestly a little embarrassed to show them to you now.
I also fondly remember that I managed to beat the Pokémon League and completed most of the primary and secondary missions that are available, and I even managed to make some progress with the post game, although it's not as extensive as the ones in titles that came later.
