Ujurak Brave: The Magic Destroyer on the Battlefield

in Hive Gaming7 days ago

Hello everyone! Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands challenge post. In this battle, I want to discuss one of the Death monsters that I find incredibly useful in combat: Ujurak Brave.

As a player who frequently faces various opponent strategies, I know that melee monsters have one major weakness—they can only attack from the front row under normal conditions. However, in certain rulesets, they can have a significant advantage. This is where Ujurak Brave proves its worth.

Many players might underestimate this Common card because it's Soulbound, but I see it as a valuable asset, especially for beginners. Even at level 4, Ujurak Brave can already reduce the opponent’s Magic Attack by -1, an effect equivalent to having Thaddius Brood as a summoner. This is extremely beneficial against magic-dependent opponents. Additionally, this ability is useful in dangerous rulesets like Noxious Fumes or other hazardous conditions.

And in this battle, I witnessed firsthand how effective Ujurak Brave is against a formidable enemy team.

My Team Composition

In this match, I had to face the Super Sneak, Ferocity, and Stampede rulesets with a 32-mana cap. I chose Quix the Devious as my summoner to reduce my opponent’s speed and lower their ranged attack. Meanwhile, I built a melee-focused team to take full advantage of the Super Sneak rule.

Here’s my team formation:

  • Void Dragon in the front row as a solid magic-resistant tank.
  • Halfling Refugee, a low-cost melee monster with decent durability.
  • Ujurak Brave, the key to my strategy against enemy magic attacks.
  • Cursed Windeku, with Thorns and Heal, making it tough to take down.
  • Vruz, a Martyr monster placed strategically to boost my team when it falls.
  • Djinn Chwala in the last position, using Thorns to counter melee attackers.

Opponent's Team Composition

My opponent didn't hold back either. They used Astral Entity as their summoner, which has Resurrect, forcing me to ensure that my attacks could eliminate enemies permanently.

Their team lineup was:

  • Disintegrator, to reduce my team’s melee attack.
  • Ujurak Brave, also present in their lineup as a magic debuffer.
  • Halfling Refugee, just like mine.
  • Baron Fyatt, with Halving, capable of reducing an enemy’s attack power.
  • Venator Kinjo, with Reflection Shield to protect against indirect attacks.
  • Arachne Weaver, with Corrupted Healing, which reverses healing effects.

Seeing this setup, I knew I was up against a well-thought-out and powerful team. This battle was going to be intense!

The Battle

Round 1

The fight began! Djinn Chwala and Vruz immediately attacked Arachne Weaver, but it wasn’t enough to take it down. However, when Cursed Windeku struck, its final attack successfully eliminated Arachne Weaver! Unfortunately, Astral Entity revived it instantly. But Ujurak Brave didn’t let that last long—he ensured Arachne Weaver was permanently removed!

Meanwhile, my opponent’s Halfling Refugee attacked Djinn Chwala but suffered from the Thorns effect. The enemy team started losing their footing, but their Ujurak Brave and Venator Kinjo kept pressuring Djinn Chwala, who barely held on.

Round 2

This time, my focus shifted to Baron Fyatt. After enduring multiple melee attacks, Ujurak Brave delivered the finishing blow, knocking Baron Fyatt out of the battle. My opponent had lost a key piece of their strategy.

Round 3

With Baron Fyatt gone, my team gained the upper hand. Djinn Chwala, now Enraged, landed a devastating blow on the enemy’s Halfling Refugee, eliminating it instantly. But then a surprise occurred—my opponent’s Ujurak Brave dodged several of my melee attacks! Its speed and agility were frustrating to deal with.

Round 4

The battle intensified. My opponent kept focusing on Djinn Chwala, but Thorns continued dealing massive counter-damage. Meanwhile, my relentless attacks kept chipping away at their Ujurak Brave. Void Dragon, still holding the front line, withstood Disintegrator’s attacks well.

Round 5

Finally, the enemy Ujurak Brave started to weaken. Djinn Chwala, now at peak Enrage, swiftly eliminated it. With that, I had more freedom to focus on Disintegrator.

Round 6

In the final round, Void Dragon landed the decisive blow on Disintegrator, leaving only Venator Kinjo, who could do little on its own. A few more attacks later, my team finished off Venator Kinjo, securing my victory!

Lessons from This Battle

My strategy in this battle revolved around debuffing my opponent. Quix the Devious reduced their ranged attack, while Ujurak Brave weakened their magic attack. This played a crucial role in countering my opponent’s composition.

I also took advantage of Thorns from Djinn Chwala and Cursed Windeku, which proved highly effective against melee attackers. However, one thing that didn’t go as planned was Vruz—I had hoped it would fall early to trigger its Martyr effect, but my team was too strong, and Vruz survived until the end without activating its buff.

Final Thoughts

This battle demonstrated that Ujurak Brave is a highly valuable card when facing magic-based opponents. Despite being a Common card, its ability can significantly impact the battlefield.
