The Beginning Of an End - The Walking Dead

Well, these couple of weeks turned out to be an unexpected visit to the burn out phase, dried up energy and a blank mind sometimes could do that. But it was high time to trick the mind and get some control over it and what best possible trick could be other than finding some much needed comfort throughout the replay of one of the most cherished and nostalgic games of my life.

The Walking Dead, a game that got so much hype during the initial release back in the days. Maybe one of the main reasons for such hype was it being a choice driven interactive game, where the players really believed their choices could shape the end. Well, for me, the knowledge of this game came to the attention through pewdiepie and the moment I saw his gameplay, I just knew I had to play it myself.

I think like me, a massive chunk of the players who loved playing the game fell in love with the journey of Clementine, I mean in a sense we got to see her grow up, from an innocent, helpless eight years old child to a badass grown woman. That journey sure did feel special but nothing could ever compare to the chemistry and father daughter bonding she had with Lee. I didn’t realize how hard the nostalgia would hit me the moment those two characters showed up on the game screen. An injured, confused, shaken Lee and an innocent, scared, alone Clem. A beginning of an end.

Although I knew the starting part of season one had its fair share of jump-scares, and the very first one was pretty intense, in the end it still managed to rattle me up quite a bit which ended up leaving me with a dead Lee. Not a good start, but hey at least I tried. But sometimes some things never change, I guess.

Well, with this replay, it was time to meet all of those cherished and annoying characters all over again, the plan for the future, well not trying to change up the decisions I made in the past, but to relieve the world where the sweet relationship of the child version of Clem and Lee still existed.

It has been a long time since I've played the Telltale Walking Dead games, but I remember being so impressed with what the devs were able to do with the story and characters within the universe. Definitely a gripping series for sure!

Yup, I agree. It was a nostalgic experience. :')) Playing as Lee and meeting with Clem, Kenny was something. :')

Also you know that legendary phrase, silent is a valid option never fails to amaze me XD

I'm not sure if this is the one but if it is then I played a part of this long ago. As it's been a long time, maybe that's why I'm unable to relate to the story. Still it brings nostalgia and btw, I'm a fan of the original tv series as well. Well written and well played.

TTG really did a good job with capturing the dark moments that the comics are famous for. If you haven't played the other seasons, I suggest you do! You can skip the mini series as that is more or less for fans of the comics and explains what michonne got up to when she went MIA for a few issues.

I have this game bought too, with the 60 hour worth of extra DLC gameplay. Just can’t get past the current souls game, Bloodborne. That has a 40 hour plus grind of Chalice dungeons. Great to see somebody with common interest!
