The Mysterious Ending - The Wolf Among Us

Well the nostalgic gameplay of The Wolf Among Us finally came to an end. The experience, I would say quite satisfactory as even though at the beginning the desire of being the good guy was the ultimate end game, the gameplay forcefully ended up making me choose to be the complete dickhead and I would be lying if I say I didn’t enjoy the thrill one bit.

Even though I vaguely remember the end part, the final fight between Bloody Mary and Bigby just took the cake man. All the chasing around, poking nose in other people's business, getting beat down and humiliated, annoying character interactions, all those to get to this magical point, fighting with the mirrors. The only complain I have about this particular fight, which one can also refer to as the boss fight is, it felt just too short. It would’ve been more fun to drag on this fight till it became too brutal to continue. But in the end, the players got to see the real transformation of the so called Big Bad Wolf and a glimpse of why everyone was utterly afraid of him. This dude is dangerous as fuck.

Now, back to the arc of The Crooked Man. During the gameplay experience, I’ve encountered very few characters who can keep up with their manipulation tactics till the last bit of their game and fortunately, Crooked Man falls into this category. This man, even when all his cards were lost, didn’t lose his composer, didn’t panic, didn’t try to run away. Instead he choose to bend people with his words and did a marvelous job at doing so, even I was getting a little bit confused by his speech during the trails. In a sense, you can’t really blame the villain for what happened in that chaotic mess, but at the same time you can’t even say he is totally innocent. A complex character with a wicked mind to bend people with his words, I wish I could’ve known a little more about his tactics, but the game never let you explore that side of potential thrill.

With the death of Crooked Man, (Yes, I killed the one character I liked more than others) it was time to restore the crumbling Fable town, and the responsibility had fallen upon our Drama Queen Snow White. (No matter how many times I play this game, It never could make me like her) And just as predicted, the ignoring Bigby phase started right away. But for us a more shocking truth was waiting right beside the sidewalk, a mystery that was on hold for more than five years now. I would say, the end did manage to raise more questions than it gave answers, but what did our Bigby do after realizing the whole game was played by the invisible call girl? Well, he simply lit up a cigarette, took a long drag and proceeded to enter his apartment building. Letting the girl get away with her life.

A poetic ending to an unsatisfying mystery.

I like narrative games, I loved The Walking Dead and I've been told that this one is even better.

Ohh Yes, The memory of playing The Walking Dead, I still can't get over Lees death. :3 It was a roller-coaster ride, seeing Clem growing up from a helpless child to a badass woman. :')

And yes, you will love The Wolf Among Us, a lot more if you are into detective work and beating people up XD

it was one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played and I still can't delete it from my computer, I loved it so much that I will open it again now after reading your article

Damn man, Looks like you and I have a lot common preference in games XD

Although I am not a fan of Life is Strange: 2, the originals two showing on your display were the best couple of days gaming experience I've ever had. :') Also Loved playing Frostpunk, after getting kicked out by my own people, It was time to win the game by being a ruthless dictator XD

Life is Strange is amazing :D one of the best story-driven games I've ever played.
Frostpunk... favorite :D

Played this game a couple of months ago and I loved it!
I didn't know this type of games till a friend recommended me to play it... and definitely, was worth the try!
Do you know any other games that are just like this one?

This game was my childhood nostalgia :') And yes, there are many games like this. Such as:

The Walking Dead
Game of Thrones
Batman: Telltale Series
Tales from Borderlands
Life is Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy

Among those The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Life is Strange are some of my most beloved games. :')

You know, I've seen you writing on this game for couple of times and when I came around on this last post, I couldn't wait anymore. I started to watching the storyline of this game, and it was pretty interesting how they bring the fables and urban legends all together!

Well, It was one of the most memorable game of my childhood :v and the story did managed to do a fabulous job at keeping up the interest. But the only major frustrating this is, I've been waiting for the next part of this game for nearly ten years now. But that golden moment still feels so out of reach :3
