Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

The question of evolution has occupied the field of science and science for many years. Did man really come from the monkey? The game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey tries to give us an answer

Evolution is a well-known and controversial term. At its core is the well-known phrase 'Survival of the Fittest'. Many translate this phrase as "strong surviving." However, it is more appropriate to translate as 'best surviving'. Many researchers have been researching this topic for years and came up with some fascinating findings. But beyond all the results of the studies, one of the most controversial aspects of evolution is the origin of man. Many believe that for millions of years humans have evolved from primates (monkeys and monkeys). The developers of the game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey at Panache Digital Games seem to have decided to take the idea one step further and show us what evolution really looked like on that side. How the monkey became a human.

But does the game really manage to shift the sense of development from one species to a more intelligent species? Let's find out.

Playfulness

As mentioned, the game wants to demonstrate to us the idea of how the monkey became human. You will enter the shoes of a young monkey from a monkey tribe and your goal is to evolve. This. Most of the game focuses on you, as an ancient monkey, trying to survive and learn the world around him. Unlike other survival games, the development system is slightly special. The development system is not based on experience points or levels, as we used to see in previous survival games. Instead, the game expects you to pick up every stick, stone and branch you encounter, and learn why it can be used. So, as previous monkeys, you will learn how to make weapons, what fruits to pick and eat, and how to identify who is a friend and who should stay away from. Another element that stood out to me in particular is the "dynasties" issue. Knowledge you acquire during your life as one monkey will be passed on to the next generation, and in turn will convey knowledge that it has learned to the next generation. And so on and so forth. In fact, the game very cleverly uses the element of evolution and the acquisition of knowledge from generation to generation.

On the other hand I can misinterpret this section. The game really didn't hold you hand and I found myself approaching Google almost every minute to figure out where I needed to go or what tools I needed to create the weapon. The game encourages you to try to remember all these things by heart, and to me it just felt like too much homework.

Sound and sounds

At the beginning of the game you will enter a unique prehistoric atmosphere. The jungle sounds you hear around you will echo around every corner and remind you of the dangers of the forest. As prehistoric monkeys, you will hear a wide variety of sounds and sounds you can make. Whether calling a member of the band, announcing your location or alerting an enemy. A lot of real-world monkey sounds were recorded for the game, and I personally amazed at how unique each reading is in itself. No reading was repeated, and each had its own meaning. It's a really good point to note the authenticity of the sound in the game.

Graphics and Realism

As mentioned earlier, the game places a strong emphasis on realism. As you enter the prehistoric jungle, you will immediately feel the dangerous world lurking outside. I often found myself picking fruit from a certain tree when I was suddenly attacked by a tiger.
Another point to note is the level of accuracy in visual details. The jungle looks and feels alive and dynamic. A tremendous amount of thought has been invested in depth. For example, I noticed that a branch I ripped from a certain tree remained broken even after visiting the same tree a while later. It amazes me to pay such huge attention to the little details that make all the difference.

Conclusion

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a mostly unique game. It is unlike anything I have experienced so far. Probably not in that way. The game places a deep emphasis on shifting the sense of 'evolution' from sex to more intelligent and developed sex. During the game, explore the world around you and pass on the knowledge you have learned in your life as prehistoric monkeys to the next generation. And they will pass on to the next generation. And so on and on until you slowly evolve over millions of years into an intelligent society and eventually a creature that conquered the human-earth. I can note the attempt to create a game that at first glance looks like a normal survival game. But as you start to progress, you will see that there is far beyond just surviving in the jungle. Unfortunately the game doesn't really hold you hand and you will find that you have lots of homework to do and learn lots of things before you get to the next stage of your evolution. I guess even in evolution there are no shortcuts.
