Darksiders Genesis - Review + System Requirements

Darksiders Genesis

Darksiders has seen a lot of ups and downs over the years, and to date has featured three great games that offer a sweeping story and gameplay from a particularly interesting addict. After the success of the third game, we come to Darksiders Genesis, a new game in the series that introduces us to the universe of the series in a slightly different way, as well as the fourth brother in the non-rider family is Madon

Whether you've played the series or not, you've probably heard of the Darksiders series at least once in your life. The series aired for the first time in 2010, and experienced some minor difficulties at all due to the bankruptcy of THQ (which was resurrected in the image of THQ Nordic). Today the series is getting new and successful games quite often, when in 2018 we received Darksiders III and now, just a year later, we are coming to Darksiders Genesis.

Personally, the Darksiders series is one of my favorite series of games of all time, and when I heard that a fourth game in the series was coming just a year after the previous game came out, I was pretty excited.

Until Genesis my favorite game in the series was Darksiders II, which you can read critically for its Nintendo Switch version here. The announcement of Genesis surprised me very much, and the expectation of the game was particularly high. With the release of the first trailer that featured the gameplay of the game I raised a bit of an eyebrow, mainly due to the camera change I will talk about later, but I still hoped we would get a quality and good Darksiders game just like its predecessors.

Plot

Genesis's plot is much simpler than the previous games' games, and it shows us two of the cavalry, Madon and War, in their quest to stop the Lucifer demon, who wants to wreak havoc and destruction on the human race.

Throughout the game the plot does not rest for a moment, and it presents a simple but interesting story, accompanied by quality dialogues among the plethora of characters the game presents. The dialogues themselves are spoken in the classic voices of the characters we have already learned to love, and of course the last brother Madon is in complete glory.

If we put the three brothers aside, Madon takes them all round with no effort. This is the funniest and witty brother, and almost all of his dialogue with the plethora of characters in the game made me smile.

The game plot takes about 15 hours on average, and if you insist on finding all the unique items the game has to offer, the game is likely to take you even more fun playing hours.

Playfulness

One of the first concerns I had with the game port is the way it will be played. In contrast to the previous three games of the series, Genesis shows us gameplay at a glance which most often refers to games such as Diablo. Initially, I was very worried that this slight change would cause a major change in gameplay, but I'm happy to tell you that even with the camera change, the game feels just like any Darksiders game we've played to date.

The game allows us to play alone or with another friend, when in single play mode we can switch between war and medon with the click of a button, and in game mode for two players we can play one of the brothers and another friend will play the other brother.

The two characters show different methods of combat, with war using its iconic sword and Madonna using a pair of large guns.

Genesis is a classic role-playing game, showing all the elements needed to make the game particularly enjoyable and addictive. The fighting experience with enemies is the same as the previous fighting experience, and here again you will have to take a lot of actions in order not to die quickly. Also, the difficulty level of the game is also challenged by the slight difficulty levels.

Apart from the excellent gameplay, the game presents a variety of different objects on top of the game's maps, where we can at any given moment return to one of the stages to collect an item we missed. Among the objects we can find coins in which we can buy improvements to the characters as well as a variety of other objects that will strengthen the power of the two brothers.

Aside from the action-role play, in Genesis we get systems that make the game a fine role-playing game. At each stage we can collect a multitude of souls of different beings that we will defeat. With these souls we can open a whole tree of improvement that offers permanent improvements to our character data, which will strengthen and develop new capabilities.

The different systems of the game are expressed between the stages, where between each stage you reach the void, which functions as a sort of rest area between stages. Brick you can purchase enhancements and objects for your characters, improve their ability tree and change it and more. You can also continue the story or choose to go back earlier to collect items you missed.

Genesis's gameplay is smooth and fun, and it feels satisfying and addictive. Unfortunately alongside the fine games I have encountered quite a few cases where the image of being stuck between walls or between stones spread on the map. I was usually able to extract myself by long jumping or changing characters but there were times when I had to go out and re-enter to solve the problem.

In addition, for a reason that is not clear to me when your character goes under the wall, we do not become transparent for you to see, and instead your character will glow in blue light to show you where your character stands through the wall. It's only a logical solution, but the blue light only applies to your character and not enemies, and happened several times that I fought enemies through the walls and didn't know where they were.

Graphics and Sound

Although the game had a slight change in the angle of the camera, it did not spare when it came to graphics. The computer version I reviewed shows beautiful graphics, which include smooth and pretty animations. Also, the maps are varied and colorful, and each wandering is just great. The game is powerful at displaying the graphics by automatically changing the camera angle, which will reveal large and beautiful parts of the map. The game also has a number of built-in "conversation" points that when you reach the game will introduce you to your environment more broadly.

Also in the field of sound the game does a great job, and the overall melodies of the game as well as the dubbing of the characters is great and conveys the game experience well.

Conclusion

I came up with high expectations for Darksiders Genesis and was delighted to have a different but particularly successful game in the series. Changing the game's camera does not affect gameplay at all, and it even improves the gaming experience in some cases. The story is sweeping, the gameplay is addictive and the overall experience is great.
