Some thoughts on Rayman Origins and why you should play it

There are games that are easy to enjoy

They are almost instantly recognisable after playing them for a few hours.

I think Rayman Origins falls into that category, by the time it was released it was a revival of the 3D formula of an old mascot, Rayman has always had its fans although I think this time Ubisoft decided to turn it around and make it a 2D platformer and hey I'm not going to complain.

they did it with style

Whether it was the captivating art style or the fluidity with which it could be played this Origins title was a pleasant surprise of 2011, at that time Ubisoft was in a sweet spot in terms of game development and they saw in Rayman the possibility to show a new proposal in a genre that dominated without a doubt nintendo and their geniuses.

Exploring the levels of Rayman Origins is like immersing yourself in an interactive fairy tale, full of colour, endearing characters and secrets to be discovered". - GamesRadar

Rayman himself is at the centre of another major revamp, his characters that were already brimming with charisma in the first instalments now returned with a fresh feel, they were still the same characters but now they had a whole art design driven world to explore and make these characters feel alive, something that with the first games I don't feel like it worked.

It's tricky to master Rayman at first, the controls are very precise but I think it's me in general who doesn't know too much about how to play these games well, there are several moments where it does get tricky to move around and there are levels where you have to try more than once before you can get through them.

Every jump can be measured, Rayman is very responsive in this aspect, in each level you will have to rescue several characters that are distributed between the main level and some secret areas and we will have to find them if we want to unlock the next levels.

The game is a clear answer to the question of whether classics can be revamped, Rayman's imaginative world is more vibrant than ever, each level looks like a painting we're moving through and some of the bosses have designs that I love to this day!

While we have various types of levels taking us from the normal ones we see in any game of this type, the ones that go underwater and the ones that are shaky and the camera is what allows us to move forward, my favourites have to be those last moments where we fight a boss, they can be very challenging as well as ingenious in some cases, the designs again are where the game shines and keeps us coming back to the levels.

Another mode to discuss is its multiplayer, I played it a couple of times with my dad and I think it changes how the game plays remarkably, when one of us dies the other gets a chance to put him back on the ground so it doesn't disrupt the experience too much if one of us doesn't know too much about how to play it, plus it makes it a sea of laughs.

Rayman Origins is proof that the classics never go out of style. This game is a celebration of fun and creativity, and is sure to leave a smile on your face". - Trusted Reviews

I just felt like writing about this game, it's perhaps more classic than the original character games, every time I want to show a kid a game I just play this one and they love it, a good exponent of the platformer genre and one of the few times we've seen Ubisoft go into unknown territory and do it so well.

This looks like a nice game.
But,

I wonder how Rayman passed this path.
