His name, "Altaïr" would mean eagle in flight in classical Arabic, born on January 11, 1165, raised within the brotherhood of assassins in Masyaf, Syria, where he grew up and developed incredible skills, increasing quickly through the ranks of the Order. With a rebellious, impetuous, confident, demanding, arrogant, selfish and impatient character, he became a cold and objective person, who was fully dedicated to the cause he chose to follow.
A couple of years later, after a mission entrusted by his mentor Al Mualim in the temple of Solomon, a mission that failed, he was demoted to a novice and sent to kill 9 Templar targets as the last chance to redeem himself. In the process Altaïr began to listen to the last words of his victims, their revelations and justifications to hold him responsible for their actions. Getting his attitude to change and begin to perceive more between the actions of the world, while reflected in the teachings of the Creed "Nothing is true, everything is allowed", before a guide, now a way of life.
Su nombre, "Altaïr" significaría águila en vuelo en el árabe clásico, nacido el 11 de Enero de 1165, criado bajo el seno de la hermandad de los asesinos en Masyaf, Siria, donde creció y desarrolló increíbles habilidades, aumentando rápidamente entre las filas de la Orden. Con un carácter rebelde, impetuoso, confiado, exigente, arrogante, egoísta e impaciente, se volvió una persona fría y objetiva, que se dedicó plenamente a la causa que eligió seguir.
Un par de años después, luego de una misión encomendada por su mentor Al Mualim en el templo de Salomón, misión que fracasó, fue degradado a novicio y enviado a matar 9 objetivos templarios como ultima oportunidad de redimirse. En el proceso Altaïr comenzó a escuchar las ultimas palabras de sus víctimas, sus revelaciones y justificaciones para hacerle responsable de sus actos. Consiguiendo que su actitud cambiara y comenzara a percibir más entre las acciones del mundo, mientras que se refleja en las enseñanzas del Credo "Nada es verdad, todo está permitido", antes una guía, ahora una forma de vida.
By the end of the conflict, all that reckless and rebellious nature had been brought under control, transforming into a calm, focused, driven, humble, patient and wise person. Altaïr was known to his enemies as one of the Order's most respected and feared assassins, second only to the Brotherhood's leader, Al Mualim.
Al final del conflicto, toda esa naturaleza temeraria y rebelde había sido puesta bajo control, transformándose en una persona tranquila, centrada, impulsada, humilde, paciente y sabia. Altaïr fue conocido entre sus enemigos como uno de los asesinos más respetados y temidos de la Orden, sólo superado por el líder de la Hermandad, Al Mualim.
Altaïr after becoming Grand Master, recovering the fruit of Eden, established Malik as his right hand, and began to write the Codex, a personal diary that also served as a starting guide for the Order of Assassins. It drastically began to change the tactics and customs that the brotherhood followed for years, as the Templars were losing ground and moving further away from public life day by day. He removed the condition of cutting his finger in order to use a hidden blade, the prohibition of using poison, and the false promise of a paradise only accessible through loyalty to the Order. He designed a hidden double blade, added a poison blade, and created new assassination techniques with Malik's help.
Altaïr was remembered and revered as an important member of the Assassin order, however, he did not become known to the world, remaining a secret and a legend among Assassins and Templars.
Altaïr después de convertirse en Gran Maestro, recuperando el fruto del edén, estableció a Malik como su mano derecha, y empezó a escribir el Códice, un diario personal que también servía como guía de iniciación para la Orden de los Asesinos. Drásticamente empezó a cambiar las tácticas y costumbres que la hermandad siguió durante años, pues los Templarios estaban perdiendo terreno y se alejaban más de la vida pública día con día. Removió la condición de cortarse el dedo para poder usar una hoja oculta, la prohibición de usar veneno, y la falsa promesa de un paraíso sólo accesible mediante la lealtad a la Orden. Diseñó una doble hoja oculta, añadió una hoja envenenada, y creó con ayuda de Malik nuevas técnicas de asesinato.
Altaïr fue recordado y venerado como un miembro importante en la orden de los Asesinos, sin embargo, no llegó a ser conocido en el mundo, quedando en secreto y siendo una leyenda entre Asesinos y Templarios.
And there is only the million dollar question, the great eagle in flight also known as the son of no one existed in the history of our world? Well, it is something that we cannot exactly assure, but the records we have so far indicate that no, but what did exist was a sect of Nizaris in Syria led by "Rashid ad-Din Sinan", also known as The Old Man of the Mountain, an important figure in history of the Crusades.
Y tan solo queda la pregunta del millón, el gran águila en vuelo también conocido como el hijo de nadie existió en la historia de nuestro mundo?, bueno, es algo que no podemos asegurar con exactitud, pero los registros que tenemos hasta ahora indican que no, pero, lo que si existió fue una secta de Nizaríes en Siria liderada por "Rashid ad-Din Sinan", también conocido como El viejo de la montaña, una figura importante en la historia de las Cruzadas.
Rashid ad-Din Sinan was a Nizari from the Holy Land who lived in the 12th century. He was head of the Nizaris, whom he ruled from the castle of Al-Jaf. He made his sect fearsome thanks to some assassinations of politicians that were carried out in his name and because of the myths, rumors and legends that haunted the neighboring towns of the fortress.
One of the most notable acts happened in 1176, when after having threatened Saladin to death, he was forced to protect Masyaf from Saracen troops. After some negotiations with his uncle Shihab Al'din, he managed to get Saladin to leave Masyaf as one more ally.
The crusaders were trying to take back Jerusalem through the Third Crusade. Rashid was the victim of a kidnapping in 1189, during another attack on Masyaf Castle, on the orders of a rival chief known as Haras the Crusader, but he was rescued and his kidnapper killed.
Rashid ad-Din Sinan fue un nizarí de Tierra Santa que vivió en el siglo XII. Fue jefe de los nizaríes, a los que gobernó desde el castillo de Al-Jaf. Hizo a su secta temible merced a algunos asesinatos de políticos que se llevaron a cabo en su nombre y por los mitos, rumores y leyendas que rondaban los pueblos vecinos a la fortaleza.
Uno de los actos más notables sucedió en 1176, cuando después de haber amenazado a muerte a Saladino, se vio obligado a proteger Masyaf de las tropas sarracenas. Tras unas negociaciones con su tío Shihab Al'din, logró que Saladino abandonase Masyaf como un aliado más.
Los cruzados intentaban recuperar Jerusalén por medio de la Tercera Cruzada. Rashid fue víctima de un secuestro ocurrido en 1189, durante otro ataque al castillo de Masyaf, por orden de un jefe rival apodado Haras el Cruzado, pero fue rescatado y su secuestrador asesinado.
After taking over the leadership of the Nizaris, he had an excellent cultural training on the sect. How it happened is unknown, but he lost vision in his right eye. He was the one who established the headquarters of the Nizaris in the castle of Al-Jaf, and began to be known by his nickname "Old Man of the Mountain", which was also received by Hasan-i Sabbah, among others.
A legend says that Rashid had a private garden to which he took new members of the Order and seduced them with women and drugs, such as hashish, so that they would accept to join the Order.
Rashid enjoyed the Nizaris being the best known in Alamut, and some writings attribute him as a demigod. He died in 1192 in the castle of Al-Khaf, in Masyaf, Syria.
Después de hacerse con la jefatura de los nizaríes, tuvo una excelente formación cultural sobre la secta. Se desconoce cómo pudo ocurrir, pero perdió la visión del ojo derecho. Fue quien estableció el cuartel de los nizaríes en el castillo de Al-Jaf, y comenzó a ser conocido por su sobrenombre de "Viejo de la Montaña", que también recibió Hasan-i Sabbah, entre otros.
Una leyenda comenta que Rashid tenía un jardín privado al cual llevaba a nuevos integrantes de la Orden y les seducía con mujeres y drogas, como el hachís, para que aceptaran a integrarse en la Orden.
Rashid disfrutó con los nizaríes siendo el más conocido en Alamut, y algunos escritos le atribuyen como un semidiós. Murió en 1192 en el castillo de Al-Khaf, en Masyaf, Siria.
It is more than clear that Altaïr's mentor; Al Mualim is a character based on Rashid ad-Din Sinan, with many similarities involved, ignoring of course the things considered 100% fictitious from the video game "Assassins Creed". Does this mean that Altaïr himself could have existed as a man among Rashid's order? Perhaps, if so, he would have another name but most likely we will never be able to know for sure.
However, we can conclude that not everything we see in video games is false, or at least not partially.
Está más que claro que el mentor de Altaïr; Al Mualim es un personaje basado en Rashid ad-Din Sinan, con muchas similitudes de por medio, obviando por supuesto las cosas consideradas 100% ficticias del videojuego "Assassins Creed". ¿Esto quiere decir que el propio Altaïr pudo existir como un hombre entre la orden de Rashid? Quizás, de ser así tendría otro nombre pero lo más probable es que nunca seamos capaces de saberlo con seguridad.
Sin embargo podemos concluir que no todo lo que vemos en los videojuegos es falso, o al menos, no parcialmente.
