3 Tips to improve your experience in Red Dead Redemption 2

in Hive Gaming4 months ago (edited)

Hello hive gaming community, I want to share these 3 tips about Red Dead Redemption that caught my attention in particular, I want you to enjoy it

From the first moment we played Red Dead Redemption 2, we realized that the open world that Rockstar presents to us is very different from anything we have seen before. You can no longer walk freely, since many of the things you do have consequences. You can't neglect your health, or your horse, or Dutch's gang. Now, even the smallest tasks like hunting can take almost an entire day

It may not have as much complexity as an RPG like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but with so much to think about for the player, how can we improve our experience? Well, you're in luck. Here I will tell you some tips that you can take into account: Consider this as a preview of our analysis, which will be released very soon.

Before the Tips…

This aspect is worth mentioning for those who have not yet started the title. Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open world with many consequences. Here you take the role of the experienced Arthur Morgan, who is part of a band of outlaws trying to survive the last days of the wild America and face the inevitable arrival of the modern world and the unification of the country.

It's not about riding freely and attacking what you want. Here you have the responsibility of contributing income to the camp, which helps us obtain ammunition, food and medicine. By not doing this, you are paying attention to the mood and morals of the characters and therefore you are not able to advance the story properly. You can always return to your camp to sleep and you have to feed to restore strength and explore different elements crucial to the campaign. Now, without further ado, my advice, which in summary, requires the use of common sense:

#1 Appreciate your surroundings calmly

Arthur Morgan, the game's protagonist, is one of the main members of the gang. You can say with certainty that he is the one in charge of supplying ammunition and more money than everyone for the camp. You carry out missions, but not as a simple errand boy. Here you are required to establish a bond between the band members and strangers with the intention of empathizing with them, or teaching them various life lessons.

Now, when you are at camp, you can stay for a while listening to what they are talking about. With this you will learn very valuable things that will help you get to know all the characters. The cool thing is that for each mission you do (main or secondary), they will say conversations related to that mission. You can sit and listen or ask them things. This may cause them to assign you tasks themselves. It also raises the morale of the band, as you tie up loose ends of the story itself. At the moment I don't know how strict that rule is, but the immersion of the game is fascinating

With all this, the game wants you to create links with everything you do, making the characters have much more life. When you're out exploring, try to use your binoculars to analyze the local flora and fauna. With this you can mark on your map the location of different species that you need to find or hunt for different materials that you need to create or contribute. Oh yes, remember that you can follow tracks of enemies or animals that are made along the way.

Going out to explore towns is very important if you want to know aspects of the state where you are. One of my favorite towns is Pleasance in Rhodes, an abandoned and ruined place where we only see a few houses and a church. On one side, we see a group of graves, all with exact dates and savage deaths, communicating to the player that something horrible happened in that town, all with very few clues

Believe me, for reasons of time or to avoid problems, sometimes it is not advisable to stop to help a stranger. That's why I recommend listening and watching the character carefully to consider helping them. Some will try to steal your horse, others are robbing a stagecoach and you'll prefer to stay at a distance.

However, pay attention to the side quests when you can. These, in addition to being complex with a lot of characterization and great narrative, also give you valuable objects. Oh yes, a little secret, if you save a stagecoach from an assault, you will be able to take the object or money in charge, since it is considered lost. Likewise, be careful who you threaten and who you steal from.

#2 Read your documents and journal

Reading is important because, guess what!, it informs you of very valuable aspects and you know much more about Arthur. Every time you do quests, tasks or discover wildlife or places, the protagonist will write them down in his journal and on the map. You can consult the diary if you hold down the Left button on the D-pad.

Arthur writes everything down neatly as we do it, including our personal decisions. It is very useful for such an extensive game and allows us to remember aspects of our progress. This will draw the places, flora and fauna, while the missions are described in text. Here I recommend paying attention to what he thinks, because sometimes it will help us make decisions in the main missions, secondary missions and casual encounters. We can even reject some main missions if we want.

It is also very useful to read the newspaper to know what is happening at the moment and look for new missions. Finally, he explores cities, both populated and abandoned. Many of them will have stories to tell and perhaps some objects to collect. In addition, he remembers that you can always learn medicine recipes, ammunition modifications or tonics if you acquire them from peristas, in the world or even in secondary missions.

Finally, the clearest. He learns more about the world by reading the Help, Progress or Player that you will find in the pause menu

#3 Take care of yourself and your horse.

As if your own life is not already complicated, you will also have to take care of Arthur and his horse. If you don't sleep for a long time or take a lot of damage, you will have consequences. Your Dead Eye bar will be lowered, so you won't be able to perform slow motion shots. Your stamina is drained and you will be unable to run or aim properly. With low health you can, erm, die. Even if you heal with the respective potions, the maximum bar of these three attributes will be used up as the day goes by.

Given this, try to sleep at least once a day (between 6 to 8 hours), this will fill the Dead Eye and some resistance. You can sleep at the band camp, your personal camp or in a hotel. It also helps to drink some gin, among other quality drinks.

Eat at least once or twice a day, or at least until your health and stamina bars are completely white. If they're yellow, you'll be fine for the rest of the day, unless you take damage of course. You can eat the stew that Pearson prepares in camp after noon, feed on canned food, eat in canteens, or eat your own cooked food in your travel camps.

Sugary foods are much less nourishing than meat or stew, just like in real life! so don't get excited by eating a lot of cookies or sweets just because they are the cheapest foods. Also try to eat meat in good or perfect condition, which can rot if kept uncooked for a long time. You can also feed on the flora you find, but be careful that flowers like oleander are poisonous.

For stamina you can drink Pearson coffee at camp or purchase a strainer and ground coffee sold at convenience stores, which you can look for in the counter catalog. Cigarettes and cigars also increase resistance, but nothing like coffee or a good nap.

Bathing will also recover all your attributes. You can do this at the Valentine hotel. At the moment I have not discovered another place. If you don't leave, Susan will charge you as punishment, this to prevent others from getting sick. In some ways it sounds ridiculous, because so far I haven't gotten sick from it and the fine seems like a bit of a lame design decision to me, but honestly I'd rather not waste money and take a bath.

The horse also needs care to maintain its attributes. Brush and feed him when you can. You can do it standing up if you hold LT/L2 and press Left or Right, it depends on what you want. You can also do it on horseback by holding LB/L1 and scrolling to the item pie menu for the horse with RB/R1. There you just select the brush or the food. You buy this food in the store or you can give it from the flora that you collect.

And lastly, please ride your horse carefully. If possible, try to follow the vehicle path to go faster. If you go in the mountains, you can crash into rocks, trees or bushes. You can even collide with nearby horses or carriages and affect the health of yours

If a serious accident happens to your horse, it will be moribund for a while and if you don't save it, you will lose it forever. Trust me, you don't want that to happen. Seeing it like this for me has been one of the saddest moments in video games, especially when you invest many hours with them. Fortunately you can save it with a Horse Resuscitator, which you can buy from a doctor or in a store. Always carry one on hand.
