This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types

It was time for Goliath to leave Cerulean city with a fresh badge in his case and feeling confident in his team of Pokemon.

The way forward was now clear except for this house which had been broken into, with a robbery of the technical machine being held by these residents.

He went out the back to see the Rocket grunt lingering around and this is where the fight took place. The Rocket grunt started with a Pikachu, a fine choice to have on your team.

Grimer got brought out and is becoming a powerhouse without even having more moves to use yet, pound just does the work and even while paralysed as well!

But this was about to be turned around since Grimer was up against a Drowzee next. It disabled pound to stop the attacking, confusion was used which is super effective and almost bringing Grimer down which prompted a switch to Jigglypuff to try put Drowzee to sleep.

Well it was now going to be a bad time for Jigglypuff as well, for this Drowzee got off a confusion before a failed sing attempt on it, then proceeded to use hypnosis to put Jigglypuff to sleep and then disable its sing before finishing off with another confusion.. this was a bad battle against a Drowzee but it is a strong Pokemon!

Good thing for Goliath was the mighty Dratini and it getting to act first in battle. Constant wrap use hitting and taking the damn Drowzee down without taking any damage, was a good wrap up to this fight and it saw Grimer hit level twenty, since it had been switched before being beaten.

After the battle the Rocket grunt was forced to return the stolen technical machine which was number twenty eight, containing the move dig and not needed by the resident it was stolen from. They managed to get Diglett to learn it and this left Goliath with the ability to work out a Pokemon he wants to teach dig to.

For now, he healed up and headed south to go for Vermilion city, though there would be some time taken to check out what's on the way.

Like a daycare centre being run for helping level up a Pokemon which means, Goliath can now have one less to worry about for the leveling while he focused on the others. The one chosen was the Shellder which was still a low level twelve.

A quick run through the underground path which bypasses Saffron city so you can take the route below it, to Vermilion city. There was an x special and a full restore found in this path and free items are always good!

Once out of the underground path, avoiding the grassy area at first to find a bug catcher waiting and it was a simple fight. Only a Caterpie and Magikarp so it was quick and easy, what was found in the grass was cool though.

A Farfetch'd was found and weakened in an attempt to catch it, with the first attempt failing even with low health, but the second attempt was successful and since Shellder was put into the daycare centre, Farfetch'd came straight to Goliath's team.

Now all that was left before getting into Vermilion city was to face the group of trainers in the way with the first Jr Trainer having a level twenty Grimer just like Goliath's.. well like the last mirror match, this one saw Goliath getting a pretty easy win again and was great experience as well.

The Jr Trainer next to him was a female and likely the girlfriend of the one just defeated, she started with a Pidgey that didn't take much for the Grimer to deal with. Next up was a Voltorb and it is always refreshing to see another Pokemon that is new or not been seen often. Of course it was no real match for the mighty Grimer and this was another easy battle won.

Another bug catcher but this one was only keeping with him a Wartortle which was a mighty force. It took out Grimer with ease and almost took out Venonat as well, but luckily it could be defeated.

Lucky last two trainers to be beaten were up next and it was an easier time.. a female Nidoran was taken out by Grimer with a couple of pounds before Jigglypuff was to be fought next and that one was sorted by some Dratini wrapping as usual and so was the Zubat that was following up for the final Pokemon being used, managing to get Dratini to level eighteen.

A potion was used on Grimer which gave it more health, ready for the next fight and final one. Ekans went up against Goliath's Grimer with it becoming a really close battle that's for sure!

After beating Ekans a Ponyta was brought out which looked so cool. It kept using ember against Squirtle which did small chunks of damage and was about to win. Squirtle's bubble attack lowered Ponyta's speed so it was able to be first in attacking for the final attack, saving it from fainting and meaning Goliath is now able to enter Vermilion city and heal his Pokemon to be fighting fit again.
