Now I've read the post three times, and I still don't get it. Do I play a game to earn NFTs? On what chain? Or do I buy NFTs to play a game? I guess I could have clicked a link to find out, but I'm silly that way - I want to know before I click.

Nope, no way to earn NFTs while playing the game. It is just a normal mainstream video game that secretly has put artwork from an NFT collection, called Goblintown, all throughout the game.
Aww, and here i was hoping! Well, no free goblin NFTs = I won't play. That'll teach 'em, huh? 😹
