why are company's like Activision just rebooting video game series instead of starting something new?

Improved graphics, updated/upgraded game engine to better use modern hardwares, maybe add additional content into the game. There could be multiple reasons. I wish that Rockstar Games would properly do something similar with the older Grand Theft Auto episodes. The Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is not really that good. Rockstar Games could have been done that so much better.

I do agree The Definitive Edition was underwhelming. As I mentioned I understand to an extent this idea of "new generation, with a revamped classic" like modern warfare, however, it's not the same game, it lacks its nostalgic feeling. And honestly, it's just laziness and lack of creativity of the developers to basically go "alright, every 10 years we're just gonna remake the same series, same game, with a newer engine." Like in the case of call of duty, at least Vanguard (while not that great in my opinion) was a new franchise series idea, not that great but not a rehash, same story, new engine nonsense.

They are doing reboots because if it worked for them the first time, they will surely use it again, Activision overexploits his ''successful'' stuff, in 15 years they haven't changed his graphic engine, only when they saw, that they have a lot of critics for that thing. And they new obsession about realism is very dumb, it turns the game into a stressful and annoying headache, yes ''recoil'' i'm talking to you.

Nice video pal.
