RE: Herzog Zwei: The game that started real time strategy (RTS) games

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

Unfortunetly I tried only Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2, but I really liked those games. Afterwards I was looking for some good eSport multiplayer RTS games where I can tryhard (cause I felt like W3 and S2 are losing player base and those games are slowly dying), but I quickly realized that RTS genre is underrated, everyone's making FPS/MOBA/MMO/BR but nobody is making RTS game's. I think this genre need more attention. If we could get some great RTS with a potential for eSport I would try to play it and be good at it for sure.

But yea I think the reason why RTS is underrated is that nowadays when kids get their PC's , they go on twitch and see csgo, valorant, league of legends, fortnite. Not many rts are being advertised. Same thing was with me, as I kid when I got my PC, everyone was playing Counter-Strike, so I also started and I've spent 12 years on it while missing a lot of old classics and good games. Tbh I got into single players 2 years ago. So I have still a lot to discover. Good to see some posts about oldschool and classic games. I can learn something new.

Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 are two really fantastic RTS games, so you got to play some of the best in your memory already.

You are likely very correct about the RTS being underrated these days. I guess I'm just old school because while I realize that FPS games are all the rage, they just don't really work for me unless they are RPG in nature. I really don't like online competitive play but then again, I never really tried it all that much since Counterstrike, which was, of course, amazing.
