Hello Gamers, how are you? I hope you're all doing well. I've been looking for an MMO for a while now and I've tried quite a few, free to play of course. I came across an ad for the game and decided to download it. The game has been on the market for quite a while now, but they released this new face a while ago and it seems to have come back to life. Anyway, I'd never played it before, so I decided to try it out and spend some time on it to see how far we can go.
Without any expectations I started playing it. It's been one of the most acclaimed and played online games in Japan, so it must have something. Without getting too into the character creation thing, I selected a default model and started. These are the kind of games where you can really spend a while modifying the character, so I decided to move on. This doesn't affect the character or their skills, so when I make another class I'll dedicate myself more to this.
Starting to play, the first thing I have to thank the game for is the support for the control, really being forced to the keyboard and mouse in hack and slash and free combat style games is a torture, so we're doing well here. I decided to play directly on a server, server Number 2 Ur, and I say this because if you're new the game recommends you start on a server for new players, however I started on a so-called "normal" server. I chose to do the prologue mission and then start chapter 1 to get to know the story, the dynamics, and everything else in general.
To my surprise the game has a SUPER FINAL FANTASY vibe, without a doubt it reminded me a lot of FF X, now I see why it was so popular in Japan, SEGA got the hang of it, because I really tell you that if you have played FF X or X2 it will remind you a lot, the whole vibe of the prologue is really brutal and it caught you, it doesn't feel like a heavy and tedious tutorial, you start right away in the action and that is appreciated.
This mission is about getting to know all the aspects of the game, so that's what you do, the combat is excellent, I really can't complain, the display of skill with the control is very well done, and it's not at all uncomfortable, as it usually happens with other games. The graphics are spectacular, needless to say, it really is quite immersive all the characters, and well if you put the voices in Japanese, it will all be very anime hahaha.
I haven't really been able to play for more than an hour, I really want to spend a few hours on the game today to fully understand everything. It has quite a few things, and for now the story is intriguing, which motivates me to continue, I'm really interested in moving forward and maybe I've found the MMO to play throughout the year, I think this year I'll only play two online games, The Finals which is a shooter and this one as an MMO, for the rest I just want to play campaign games and enjoy the stories. I played the original PSO on the Dreamcast and loved it. I was under the impression that they shut the servers down for this one. I'm glad to see that this is not the case. I love Phatasy Star and consider it one of the most underrated games franchises of all time.
Since I started playing it I haven't stopped playing it!! It's amazing, it has a very old school vibe but at the same time modern! I really don't understand some of Steam's criticisms about the game, and yes, this game is more alive than ever now that they made the whole new version! Thanks for commenting!
It wasn't the first online game that I ever played but it was one of the first. I even bought the genuine Dreamcast keyboard because of it. They had some sort of keyboard adaptor for a regular keyboard but it was laggy and strange so I shelled out the $20 or so that they were charging for the official Sega keyboard.
I never played the first one but imagine a special keyboard haha, soun interesting! But Sega really did something amazing with this game and its second version! Thank you very much for your comment.
