Greetings,
Do you still remember games from the Castleviania series?
ㅤProductions that debuted from the eighties still on the NES console. Since then, the series has won fans around the world and has become one of the most recognizable brands in the video game industry. However, what has been happening to the series since Konami began porting the games to the Steam platform crosses a huge moral boundary in my opinion.
ㅤCastlevania game collections on the Steam platform are, in my opinion, simply preying on gamers' wallets. Konami has so far released two such compilations containing older games from the Castlevania series. Unfortunately, their prices are far too high in relation to the content offered. These are, as far as I am able to find out, the most expensive forms of playing the productions in digital form. To make matters worse, some of the games available in these collections are the exact same versions that were already available on Steam before. This is simply playing with players' memories and longing for the series.
ㅤPlease don't misunderstand me either. It's not just about monetary issues. Similar compilations by the same company of games such as Mega Man are similar in price, but they are also much more worth the price, adding a whole spectrum of additional content from themselves. Castlevania game collections, in addition to game roms (because they are obviously emulated versions from consoles, not actual ports), only allow you to set the background of the game outline, or stretch the image. The menu lacks such basic options as selecting the program's resolution.
ㅤDespite such truncated content, it is fascinating further to see how this wonderful software works in the background of our played items. The roms, as far as I've been able to check, are NTSC versions, for the US market, which is of course a plus, since the games run at the original speed. However, this is just a spoonful of honey in a full barrel of bitter tar. This fact won't give us much at a time when my computer, well above the recommended requirements to run the games was able to fail to cope with the simplest titles dating back as far as thirty years at this point.
ㅤProduction fans will also remember how important a role the soundtrack played in these games. After spending so much time with the Anniversary Collection and checking out individual, more popular tracks like "Simon's theme," "Heart of fire" and "Bloody tears," I can safely say that the soundtrack in most of the games is either distorted, the individual sounds have inadequate volume, or in some tracks the tonality is completely raised by a semitone or a full tone.
ㅤOf course. I agree that Konami has the right to release its games as it wishes, and that no player is forced to buy these collections. However, the price of each of these collections is too high for the content they offer. In addition, the fact in what condition the productions ended up online is unacceptable. Publishers should take care of their fans, not just exploit their sentiment for their favorite game series.
ㅤIn conclusion, Castlevania game collections on the Steam platform seem to me to be simply preying on gamers' wallets. Konami is capitalizing on the popularity of the Castlevania series and the related Netflix series and fan sentiment to make money by offering outdated games at high prices, and at the culmination it turns out that these are additionally inferior versions of titles than those found in other collections or the standard Nintendo eShop, additionally more expensive than some options.

I'm a big fan of reteogaming and my best Castlevania of all time is Super Castlevania IV (SNES) in second place is Symphony of the night. Both are amazing and today we can play it for free in an emulation web page. If anyone here doesn't know Castlevania well, get a little culture class and play them, those are great fun no matter how retro those games can be. Greetings
I completely agree. I've devoted a nice chunk of my life to these games, so it pains me all the more to see the direction the company is taking with the brand. However, faith is restored by the fact that Koji Igarashi, the father of the series is now working on the heir to the game's atmosphere, the Bloodstained games. Peace.
