The hatching of eggs becomes more extensive
In the first part of Jurassic World Evolution, raising multiple dinosaurs or herds was an arduous undertaking. In the Hammond development labs, only one dinosaur could be hatched at a time. According to Frontiers, the system will be significantly expanded.
This is how the new system works: You will continue to extract dinosaur DNA from fossils to create a complete genome. In the new labs, multiple dinosaurs can be created and released at once. In the first step you create a clutch of eggs via synthesis and make genetic modifications.
Similar to the first part, you adjust the genetic characteristics such as life expectancy, skin pattern, social characteristics and more.
The results will be revealed after the synthesis phase. Not only should desired properties emerge, but also undesirable ones. It is not yet known how the undesirable effects will work.
Incubation of the clutch: After the synthesis phase is complete, the incubation follows, in which the dinosaurs are raised in the hatchery until they reach adulthood. You can then release the dinosaurs in the park.
Together instead of alone in the new enclosure
Another innovation is the joint release of all hatched dinosaurs. This should allow the animals to explore their new home together. The "Remote Release" function, with which your dinosaurs can be transported directly from the hatchery to another point on the map, is also being introduced.
In the first part this was only possible with great difficulty, in which ACU helicopters stunned the animals after they were released in order to then transport them to their destination by transport helicopter.
Frontiers emphasizes that this way, breeding grounds and enclosures can be separated from each other if more space is needed for more dinosaurs.
Catch and display dinosaurs yourself
In Jurassic World Evolution 2 you will not only breed dinosaurs, you will also be able to capture them in the "wild". According to Frontiers, there will be modes in which you will have to move alive dinosaurs from the wild to your own park.
Already in the first part, dinosaurs had to be caught in some levels and missions and transported to appropriate enclosures. However, the developers mention this point again. We assume that you can capture dinosaurs anywhere in the world.
Needs and territorial behavior more in focus
In Jurassic World Evolution 2, all dinosaurs are supposed to have more needs and demands on their enclosure.
In addition to food and water, your animals also need a comfortable environment. The individual species should differ more from one another in terms of their needs.
Territories announced as a new feature: Territories based on environmental needs have also been announced. Your dinosaurs should naturally create territories within the enclosure based on environmental needs. This gives you more flexibility when creating enclosures.
At the same time, in the future, dinosaurs will wander around much more and expand their own territory when they are dissatisfied. According to Frontiers, the placement of viewing platforms will play a bigger role in the second part, as there is no guarantee that your dinosaurs will stay in the same place for an extended period of time.
The behavior of the dinosaurs should be more realistic
In the first teaser for Jurassic World Evolution 2, several dinosaurs were seen in different situations. These behaviors are wanted and your dinosaurs will exhibit new behaviors in the future and react more to the environment. New animations have been developed for this purpose:
- Rest: Your dinosaurs will lie down in the future and enjoy the peace and quiet under the sun
- Establishing contacts: Social interaction between the animals comes into focus
- Walk, run, hunt and fight: more extensive and realistic than in the first part
Carnivores, such as raptors, are said to take part in pack hunts. The range of motion and the animations when killing the prey should be much more dynamic.
So it looks like dinosaurs will be much more realistic in the future and clear up a lot of misunderstandings from history.
Injured animals, on the other hand, are being treated by a new team: the mobile veterinary unit was presented as a new park team as part of the announcement. Larger injuries are treated in the Paleo Medical Facility.
Frontiers has not yet revealed exactly how the injuries to dinosaurs behave. However, there should be more information on this in the near future.
Ranger posts and shared enclosures
The ranger teams will have more to do in Jurassic World Evolution 2 in the future.
Rangers control the condition and welfare of your dinosaurs. To do this, they don't make house calls to the dinosaurs, but head for a ranger post.
It is placed inside the enclosure and enables all dinosaurs within range to be scanned. However, it should still be possible to scan individual dinosaurs.
