Hello friends, hello hivians, hello splinterlands community and hello game lovers, it’s that time again where we share our splinterlands content. In this week’s community challenge, we are writing about the new update in the gaem.
Again, another interesting update has been added to the splinterlands game which has been in the works for sometime now. This update was added yesterday, Thursday, 27th February 2025 after the season ended. In fact, it was actually two updates that were added to the game.
Splinterlands
These new updates are the Survival Mode and the leaderboard updates. The survival mode is a new mode which now takes the total number of game modes to three; modern, wild and the survival mode. The modern mode does not permit the use of all cards but gives more $sps and $glint rewards. The wild mode permits the use of more cards but requires a wild pass and earns way less $SPS and $glint as compared to the modern game mode.
The survival mode however, is going to allow players use all the cards in the game and requires no wild pass. There is going to be an updated leaderboard with updated rewards. This survival mode will have a different leaderboard to the modern and wild leagues. In this mode; players can use any card from any set which means that all the cards in the splinterlands game is allowed in this mode.
Interestingly, the battles in this mode will not consume energy and bots are going to be allowed in this mode like we see in the wild league format. To replace the energy that is usually consumed after battles, cards in the survival mode will be in cooldown. This means that when you lose a battle, all the cards that were in the battle will not be available for another battle in any other game mode or any where else in the game till the cooldown period is over. Tough right? That’s why this is called the survival mode. It’s only for survivors.
Survival mode
The cooldown times for cards are varied. This survival mode is going to be more suitable for players with many cards. When I say many I mean lots and lots of cards because of the cooldowns. If you do not have enough cards this won’t be very beneficial to you because when you lose a lot of battles in survival, you most likely won’t have other cards to participate in more battles.
Now, rewards in the leaderboard will be made available for the top 100 players. However, in whichever league you are placed in the beginning of the season is where you will compete till the season ends. So for example if at the beginning of this season you were placed in the silver league in the modern format, you will compete in the leaderboard for just silver for the entirety of the season .
Still using the silver format as an example, you will earn 150000 glint if you rank first and 100000 glint for coming second. 75K glint is rewarded for the 3rd and 50K is given to the player who placed 4th. From 5th-10th, the players each earn 50K and 11th-25th players each earn 25K glint. 26th-50th players earn 12.5K glint. 51st-75th players each earn 6250 glint and 76th-100th in the leaderboard earns 3125 glint.

I am not sure if personally, I will be taking part in the survival mode just yet as I do not really have a huge playing deck but hopefully, I can give it a try and report back to the community very soon.
