The name Gumuk bareto comes from the sundanese language which means Old house. The concept of this restaurant is based on the concept of typical Sundanese food from past. Visitors are taken by rural atmosphere even though the Restaurant is located in the middle of the city.
Rural areas in west Java, especially in rural areas, are still dominated by rice Fields as a source of livelihood. So one of the symbols of agricultural product is rice grain, we can see around the Gumuk bareto restaurant lined with rice grains on display.
After entering the Restaurant area, my family and I waited for a table and a seat, because at that time the visitors were full and there were no empty dining tables. A replica of a traditional Sundanese architectural building with a stage shape was visible when we entered this restaurant.
While waiting for the seats and dining tables to be empty, we Saw entertainment in the form of traditional Sundanese dances performed by little girls. Wait for about 30 minutes, the waiter called to inform US that there was an empty dining table.
Before going to our seat, we looked at the menus provided in several places, and we Saw that visitors were going to order fried menus such as fish, shrimp, chicken meat, duck meat, Tempeh, tofu and others, also menus that Will be grilled.
Visitors who want to eat can choose their own menu of choice, there are several types of rice available here, such as brown rice white rice and liwet rice, all cooked using fire Wood.
Beside the rice bowl, there are various types of Chili sauce such as tomato Chili, impromptu Chili sauce also lalaban leaves. Sambal and lalab are one of the typical additions to the sundanese menu.
Not far from the sambal place, there is a place for ready to eat stir-fried dishes, we can see sauteed papaya leaves, stir-fried pumpkin, fried potato Chili sauce. Bean vegetables, green Chili tofu vegetables, tamarind vegetables, stir-fried black squid.
Visitor each bring a plate filled with rice, then choose their own menu according to their preferences. Visitors who have chosen the food menu and others, then go to the cashier to be counted directly by the cashier, the food that has been brought and paid for.
After the family brings their own food, then to the cashier, the amount paid is 450.000,- IDI or ($29,30) for 7 people. The sundanese cultural heritage that antik now is used when Eating is to use your hands when Eating. If there is a vegetables using a spoon, then continue Eating with your hands again.
