How the old city that had a nickname of "50 years remained the same city" improved in a short few years span to promote tourism!
I am talking about a certain local "hidden stylish gem" that doesn't burnt the wallet too much that tastes fresh and good!
Welcome to "Feng Cha" (奉茶) Restaurant that emphasis on a niche joint of reasonably good food that caters ordinary people with an ordinary wallet.
I must say that its quality quite close, if not better, to cafes in KL
Located at a newly developed corner where it is close to the famous Chinese Cemetery and the once infamous "Tamun Inn" where they housed one of the most famous Taiwanese actors and actresses from the movie "papa, can you hear me sing" back in 1983 to promote their film
Yes, I have met them in person before, that will leak how old I am now haha
But today it is not talking about that film, but the food.
One of the rare restaurants that has the opening from the Mayor of the city, this fusion restaurant that serves quite delightful simple Western Meal that probably cost around USD $4.50 a dish was an eye opening that how this city that mostly emphasis on traditional Chinese cooking eatery has evolved.
I actually quite like this mushroom soup that was done from scratch. You literally can smell the fresh mushroom fragrance, and it cost around USD $2 . Only sad part was I hoped the garlic bread slice was bigger, then it will really serve as a meal with its smooth thick texture.
The interior is very classy and very comfortable. And interestingly this restaurant only serves from 12pm - 12am
The only thing that I felt a little too pricy are the drinks. While the mains are quite affordable, the beverages can be a little steep at the wallet.
It is a capital city Kuala Lumpur price I must say.
But the serving is HUGE. So you get to sip throughout the meal and they even serve "to go" style so that if you can't finish it, you can keep enjoying it when you are done.
The restaurant actually closes at midnight, but left its porch for late night owls to chit chat with chairs and tables available. So far according to the owner, the patrons are decent young people who will not vandalise the place. She's just happy to provide a safe spot for young people to catch up as long as they need.
Overall I give the food rating 4 out of 5 stars , but I haven't tried the rest. Next time I'd probably try other dishes and share further with you whenever I am back in Ipoh with the parents.
So far, dad is happy with the chicken chop.
Anyone in the area can WhatsApp and order take away too. Very friendly premise to hang out indeed!

Long story... it has been a roller-coaster since 2023 and finally things are starting to see light.
@elizacheng is good. Sometimes we still message each other but I have less chances to meet up because we stay quite far from each other and never got the idle time to meet up.

At first thought it was a milk tea shop lol but guess they also serve food surprisingly o.o and western food I like so maybe if got chance I will see how
Haha this is fusion Restaurant so this is not going to work.
I may have a few more meet ups this week that might be Chinese food but might not be able to get hold of the receipt because we are going Dutch.
But will try and see if possible or not.
