Ma La Tang - A Return to Jin's Haus

in Eating Out11 days ago

It has been a crazy but funny day. Fridays are my favorite as they are just more chilled and relaxed as we approach the weekend. It is like a housekeeping day for me to tidy everything up and get things in order to close out the week.

For lunch though, I had something special planned with a good friend of mine. The plan was postponed from yesterday til today, but that was good to fit in with the Friday vibe.

It has been over a year since we were last there and you may remember my blog post from that visit. However, today we finally made it there again this year. It is probably one of my top 3 restaurants around here and was looking forward to the visit.

It is only a small Lokal restaurant and looked quite quiet as we approached, but was rammed with the early birder goers like us already! Upon entering, we grabbed our bowls and waited for the queue to reduce before grabing our ingredients.

I went for an all veggie dish as I am not keen on fish and meat too much. I like lots of noodles and plenty of the different veggies. Things that can make a crunch are also good ones that I like to add.

I had quite a big bowl and choose garlic flavor. I added lots of extra coriander and dry mushrooms on top. I also like lots of noodles to slurp along with too! This dish didn't disappoint at all and I was really satisfied and the wait to visit again was well worth it.

We didn't get a receipt, so I couldn't photograph it for the competition, but I took a photo of myself instead and yes, I am looking rough after not sleeping well with my sleeping condition. The soup was so tasty and spicey at the end that it really cleared up my sinuses too! I think it cleared up a few peoples too judging by the sniffing going on in the restaurant.

Here I blacked out the lady sitting behind me to respect her privacy. She was dining Han Solo, probably couldn't resist the food too. I had the large bowl and it cost only around €13 or so with the drink, so pretty reasonable for a Gannet (someone who eats alot and fast) like me too.

You can see the huge fridge where you can select your ingredients from behind too. It was quite a cosy local and busy, so was trying not to look too conspicuous when photographing.

As you can see from my title picture, I was really enjoying the food and finished it no problem. The time flew by really fast and I am already thinking about when I might return. I hope it will not be another year of waiting!!

This is my entry into @shawnnft's December Eating Out Challenge where you can enter here with a great chance to win some prizes!

Thanks for reading.

Good food, I'm a fan of noodles, but I stopped eating since they said they're prone to have too much preservatives and over processed. Probably it's just the one here in Nigeria.
You look like you had to force a smile there.

@tipu curate

Thanks man. It was really great food and I enjoyed myself immensely. Despite some health issues, I did still want to force a smile as it was really enjoyable. Sorry to hear about the noodles there, I do love them myself too, I think probably also here they are not so healthy either.

Thanks for the curation.

This looks pretty delicious. We have a place down the road from where I live that does Mongolian BBQ. It's not my favorite place but the concept is interesting. I kind of wish they could streamline the process a bit more. I wish we had a noodle place like this in the area, but we don't.

It was so tasty, it blew me away! They really know what they are doing here. We have a Mongolian BBQ here too, a friend was there a while ago and they bought a robot who serves you now! Thats something you aint gonna see in Mongolia!

Oh yeah, that is kind of cool with the robot. I just don't like having to stand in line and wait forever. I understand it's part of the draw of places like that, but after you watch them throw the big swords around and cook your food once, it's kind of old after that. Just cook my stuff and bring it to me... :) The flavor is always great though and I like that you can customize it how you want.

That sounds pretty good, but yeah I think the novelty can wear off pretty quickly, especially if you are hungry.

Aye you the first one to post? Not sure if anybody else will post. they said they would but you never know xD if nobody does damn easy 5k ecency and 25hbd for you.

Dang though you can eat spicy. Malatang is like a famous type of Chinese soup used for noodles and hotpot. Oh wait this is kinda like hotpot except you have your own bowl and its not a buffet. :)

That would be a nice prize!! 😀

It can be really spicey, my friend always asks not spicey, but still very hot for him. There are lots of chinese people eating there, so it looks a good place.

Do you have some Malatang where you are?

lol ya man everywhere. you can see it in like any hotpot place or that type of place that you have there where you can pick out the stuff. People prefer hotpot buffet though. Can just keep eating and ordering. Then there's a lacarte.

If you have haidilao there you can try. It's a bit expensive but the service is crazy good usually.

Oh sad not at your country yet

Bon appetit! :) 😋
The price is reasonable for such a portion.
Unfortunately, there are no such restaurants here, only burek and kebab. Yes, I miss the noodle restaurant here. I prepare noodles at home, but they're not the same.

I was pretty happy with the price, considering I got such a large bowl and with 2 portions of noodles!!!

We have several good Mexican restaurants in town, but beyond that ethnic restaurants are few and far between. It's pretty typical of a small Midwestern city. Seems this is a fast food sort of town.

I do love Mexican food but only have had home made stuff for some time. It's nice when you find some local restaurants that you like.

This looks very delicious!

Good things come for those who wait Steve!
That looks pretty damn good, I of course love the garlic and coriander.
Sme local places can be fantastic and it looks like this is one!

It was pretty fantastic Ed. It has been a favorite of mine for 3 years or so and the quality hasnt gone down at all.

It is brilliant finding a restaurant or any eating establishment that maintains the quality that you liked in the first place!
Curious about the prices... Gone up much?

It was roughly the same price. I paid less than last year, but maybe I ordered less though. :)

lol yeah maybe, well sounds like a good find though.

A very good find Ed. Authentic food there, wish I could understand half the menu.
