We arrived few minutes after Soramado Cafe opened. It’s on top of the mountain at Zao Onsen and to reach this cafe, one must take the ropeway from below. There were lots of ropeway so be careful. We got on the Chuo Ropeway and it brought us right at the entrance of the cafe.
My friends just had their breakfast so they weren’t keen on getting another bite. I didn’t though and it was fortunate because I could have their signature croissants.
There were different kinds like BLT, egg and even plain ones, and I ordered the most delicious-looking one - the Yamagata Beef Croissant Sandwich. It was also the most expensive. 😒
The wait time wasn’t that long either, so after a few discussion with friends, I was already biting the sandwich.
The croissant was huge! And the beef oh my it was so juicy! Super delicious! The portions were huge too!
I ordered rooibois tea to go with my delicious breakfast. Just the right kind of hot tea.
I was tempted to have the hot spanish latte but I haven’t had caffeine in a while so I’m afraid of its effects. My friends ordered it though and said it was the normal spanish latte.

Breakfast or brunch with a view? Soramado Cafe just fits the bill! There was a terrace outside overlooking the ski slope, so we were able to catch some snowboarders and skiers enjoying their time. If you’re not up for snowboarding or skiing, dining here in this cafe at Zao Onsen is recommended.
Just past 10am and the cafe was so full of tourists so we were really lucky to be able to come early and grabbed a seat.
Overall, good food and nice view at this mountain at Zao Onsen. What a nice start of the day!
