Garden Journal: Weeding my Vegetable Garden; Some Crops are Finally Flowering

in HiveGardenlast year

Greetings!

It was August 31 when it started to rain and lasts until September 5. Back then my vegetable garden was almost free of weeds and wild grasses because the sunny weather inhibited their growth. But when the rain kicks off weeds and wild grasses multiply. I just let the weeds and wild grasses grow but then a couple of days ago I noticed that worms started eating my vegetables' leaves.

So, today I decided to weed my vegetable garden to contain the spread of the worms. I also pulled all of my Okra because they are the ones who suffered the most from the invading worms that ate the leaves and the skin of the fruit. I did the weeding and removing the wild grasses by hand (see image below).

Before and after

And after about two hours I am finally done. Check the before and after photos of my little vegetable garden. This garden is home to my eggplants, green/red peppers, and tomatoes (those that are surrounded by small stakes).

The side-by-side photo below is actually just half of my vegetable garden.

Before After
And below is the other part of my vegetable garden (which is the first that I made when you relocated to our new house).

Mustard update

It was on August 31 that I planted my mustard greens. Today (September 12), they are now 1 inch and height, and in the coming days, I will be transplanting them to their permanent location.

Snow cabbage update

Another vegetable that I planted using seeds is Snow Cabbage (last August 24). And today, they are also 1 inch in height just like the mustard green. In the coming days, I am also going to transplant them to their final location.

Moringa update

It was on August 21 when I planted some moringa cuttings which I blogged with a title Garden Journal: Propagating Moringa. Now, three of them started to produce young leaves which makes me very very happy when I first saw them. I think the rain from August 31 until September 5 helped a lot to the moringas that I planted.

Vegetables now flowering

Aside from the updates that I have shown. I am happy to share with the community that some of my vegetables are now flowering. The eggplant, the red/green chili, the tomatoes, and my old bottle gourd crops are now in their second batch of flowering. Check the images below.

Below is a flower of my green pepper.

And these are the flowers of my tomatoes. Of all my crops I am very excited for tomatoes because tomatoes are one of my favorites.

Congrats for those vegetables that already flowering. Soon you will harvest bottle gourd, eggplant and tomatoes.

You really have a wide space for gardening, sana all.

Thank you kabayan. Yes, wide ang space, ang downside lang nakakapagod sya i-maintain, lalo na pag pag-ulan ang bilis lumaki ng mga damo.

Thank you. I hate weeding too but I have no choice but to do it. Weeding is hard and messy, and it takes some time while you are sweating a lot lol.

Ohooo, looking good now. These will soon give you more blessings for sure as they grow and sprout ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

Thank you. I hope so too that my harvest will be abundant. Good evening.

Hello @afterglow you are having excellent results with your plantations. Rainwater is one of the best vitamins for plants. 🥳

Thank you for dropping by, have a nice day ahead.

Nakakatuwa talaga pag nagtatanim kasi may i-lookforward tayu palagi tas libri pa yung pang-ulam. Good job kabayan!

Tama kabayan, nakakalibre ng ulam. And ultimate goal ko talaga at vegetable sustainability, yung hindi na ako bibili ng gulay na pang-alam at kung papalarin eh makabenta din for some extra cash.

The weeds appear from one moment to another I always say that if I got money with the weeds I would be super millionaire hehehehehe, is that it grows without stopping, very good post I really liked the gif I would love to learn how to do that, greetings and blessings

Thank you for dropping by. Same here, I would be a millionaire if weeds could be sold. I made the gif on my Android phone, see if you can do the same.
