All the last few times I've talked about gardens, it's been about the one we grow outside and share with a few people, but it almost made me forget to talk a little about ours, the one we have inside the occasion.
Today, coming back from work and there was a beautiful late afternoon light. So I thought to myself, I grabbed my camera and made a little report !
Let's start with this vigorous Ledebouria socialis. This one - like almost all our plants - comes from a single leaf, by cutting. I am not 100% sure of its identification, as plants, depending on their growing conditions, can take on so many different shapes and appearances ! This is a notorious pleasure linked to this practice :)
Here we will concentrate on succulents first, and for a good reason, they make up a majority of our indoor garden !
In order, you will find, still from cuttings :
- A Copper spoons or Kalanchoe orgyalis which grows at its own pace
- And a Kalanchoe laetivirens or "Mother of thousands" which grows at an incredible speed !
Both come from greenhouses in the Paris area and I have collected them in the last year.
Then there are these "Plover Eggs" or Adromischus cooperi. The former bought as is, the latter grown from a leaf found in a florist's pot holder.
Here, they are several Sedum - you can correct me if necessary - but I think one of them is a Sedum weinbergii... Here, no notorious problem for the growth, the only concern is perhaps to prevent them from going into all the neighbouring pots !
Here, some more cuttings to finish... I'm not sure which are the first ones, the second and third ones are definitely Crassula and again Sedum. But which type, that's another story !
Let's move on to the other housemates in our flat... First of all, I would like to introduce you to my Monstera deliciosa which is a false-philodendron and which is probably my favourite - but shhh, don't tell the others !
I only took a branch of the stems they produce to grow it and the result is very pleasing, a few years later you get this vigorous and well developed plant ! To tell you the truth, it should probably double in size if I didn't leave in the summer, forcing it to a slightly too dry diet...
Above you will have recognized a papyrus which joins the first one about my summer mistreatment but which is still doing well this year.
Then comes another Philodendron and a Rhipsalis baccifera or "Mistletoe cactus". In third place is a Peperomia retounifolia or "Trailing Jade", also part of a single leaf :)
A little further on in another room well exposed to the sun, we have this duo of "Dragon Tree", or Dracaena reflexa var. augustifolia and this *Sansevieria trifasciata also called "Snake plant" or "Mother-in-law's tongue", go figure why !
The second one has been extensively cuttings at home and I won't show you all our specimens, but I have to say that it is a plant I like because instead of rejecting C02 at night, it sucks it in and purifies the air, so it is very recommended for the city !
The last position will be for this Cypreus alternifolius or "Ubrella Palm" which must be one of our first plants to arrive with us. It is quite ideally positioned, at the end of the corridor with a good light at the end of the day :)
Special mention for our windowsill compost, which I turn quite regularly and which always ends up welcoming many visitors...
As I emptied it recently, a tomato plant has already left at full speed, no doubt taking advantage of the autumnal warmth !
This one is closely followed by several squash shoots that are growing like crazy ! Not sure though that we will be able to get anything out of these late shoots, other than the pleasure of seeing them grow... which is already a lot !

Toutes les dernières fois que j'ai parlé de jardin, il s'agissait de celui que nous cultivons en extérieur et en partage avec quelques personnes, mais cela m'a presque fait oublier de parler un peu du notre, celui que nous avons à l'intérieur de l'occasion.
Aujourd'hui, en revenant du travail et il y avait une belle lumière de fin d'après-midi. Ni une ni deux, me faisant la même réflexion, je pis mon appareil pour vous faire un petit reportage !
Commençons pas cette vigoureuse Ledebouria socialis. Celle-ci - comme presque la totalité de nos plantes - provient d'une seule feuille, par bouture. Je ne suis pas sûr à 100% de son identification, car les plantes, selon leurs conditions de pousse, peuvent prendre tant de formes et d'aspects différents ! C'est d'ailleurs un plaisir notoire lié à cette pratique :)
Ici, nous nous concentrerons sur les succulentes dans un premier temps, et ce, pour une bonne raison, elles constituent une majorité de notre jardin d'intérieur !
Dans l'ordre, vous trouverez, toujours à partir de boutures :
- Une Copper spoons ou Kalanchoe orgyalis qui pousse à son rythme
- Et une Kalanchoe laetivirens ou "Mother of thousands qui elle, pousse à une vitesse effrénée !
Toutes deux proviennent de serres dans les environs de Paris et que j'ai récoltées dans la dernière année.
On trouve ensuite ces "Plover Eggs" ou Adromischus cooperi. Le premier acheté tel quel, les seconds, qui ont poussé à partir d'une feuille trouvé dans les caches-pots d'un fleuriste.
Ici, ce sont plusieurs Sedum - vous me corrigerez au besoin - mais je pense que l'un d'eux est un Sedum weinbergii... Ici, pas de problème notoire pour la pousse, le seul souci est peut-être de les empêcher de partir dans tous les pots avoisinants !!
Ici, quelques autres boutures pour finir... Je ne sais pas trop quelles sont les premières, les secondes et troisièmes sont à coup sûr des Crassula et de nouveau des Sedum. Après de là à savoir quel type, c'est une autre histoire !
Passons aux autres colocataires de notre appartement... En premier lieu, je vous présente ma Monstera deliciosa qui est un faux-philodendron et qui est sans doute ma préférée - mais chut, ne le dites pas aux autres !
Je n'ai pris pour la faire pousser qu'un rameau de ces tiges qu'elles produisent et le résultat fait plaisir, quelques années plus tard, on obtient cette plante vigoureuse et bien développée ! Pour tout vous dire, elle devrait sans doute faire le double de volume si je ne partait pas l'été, la forçant à un régime un peu trop sec...
Ci-dessus vous aurez reconnu un papyrus qui rejoins la première à propos de mes mauvais traitements estivaux mais qui se porte tout de même bien cette année :)
Ensuite vienne un autre Philodendrons et un Rhipsalis baccifera ou "Mistletoe cactus". Pour finir en troisième position, c'est un Peperomia retounifolia ou "Trailing Jade", elle aussi, partie d'une seule et unique feuille :)
Un peu plus loin dans une autre pièce bien exposée au soleil, on a ce duo de "Dragon Tree", ou Dracaena reflexa var. augustifolia et cette *Sansevieria trifasciata aussi applée "Snake plant" ou "Langue de belle-mère", allez savoir pourquoi !
La seconde à été abondamment bouturée chez nous et je ne vais pas vous montrer tous nos spécimens, mais je dois dire que c'est une plante que j'affectionne car au lieu de rejeter du C02 la nuit, elle en aspire et purifie l'air, c'est donc tout recommandé pour la ville !
La dernière position sera pour ce Cypreus alternifolius ou "Ubrella Palm" qui doit faire partie de nos premières plantes arrivées avec nous. Il est assez idéalement positionné, au fond du couloir avec une bonne lumière de fin de journée :)
Mention spéciale pour notre compost de rebord de fenêtre, que je retourne assez régulièrement et qui fini toujours par accueillir de nombreux visiteurs...
Alors que je l'ai vidé récemment, un plan de tomate est déjà parti à toute vitesse, profitant sans doute du redoux de l'automne !
Celui-ci est suivi de très près par plusieurs pousses de courges qui croissent à vue d'oeil ! Pas sûr pourtant que nous pourrons tirer quoique cela de ces pousses tardives, autrement que le plaisir de les voir grandir... ce qui est déjà beaucoup !

Ah you are a true nature lover, bringing it inside your home. I am a fan of monstera too... Very hard to kill and gives a jungle vibe. My Nana had one in a sheltered courtyard which made it like a jungle for us kids and one year it even fruited. I don't have many cactuses but I love reading about people who do as they are so architecturally pleasing in their shape.
She's the one who took me there haha !
Yes, cactus is really at par in my mind. So different in some aspects and growing techniques from other plants... My father had a lot of them, he took care of them in an almost religious way :)

I'd love to have plants like these growing indoors when I have my own house with enough space because they don't only add beauty to the interior but also helps in filtering air.
It’s true about air filtering, but it’s important to always leave a window open by night as the relieve CO2 !
You can also start by some simple cuttings, easy and low budget haha :)
