Hello, all of my friends at the Hive Universe. How are you all? I hope you are all well by the grace of the Almighty. I am also fine. My semester final is starting, and I am busy with my studies. I am now in the reading period. My next exam is on 23 January. During that day, I have an Animal Science exam.
I was reading for my exam. But I feel bored. So, I thought about writing a post. Today, I am going to talk about the Portulaca flower plant.
These portulaca flower plants, I get from my friend Tanjina. She gives me. She gets these plants from her home. She went to her home and came with those plants. She gave me three types of plants. These are
- Aloevera plants
- Portulaca plants and
- Madagascar periwinkle plants
She knows how much I love plants and planting. So, she gave me these plants. Portulaca plants have many colored flowers. Some of them are white, yellow, purple, magenta, and so on. It depends on the species. This plant has about 100 species. I get purple flowers from my plants. Portulaca flowers have a rose-like appearance. It has heart-shaped petals. There can be other species present but now I don’t know. When flowers bloom, I will know about it. And I also know about how many species I have.
For planting Portulaca flowers, I took a container; those people lived here before this pot was theirs. They left this pot. So, I used it for planting my portulaca flower plant. At first, I prepared the soil for my Portulaca plant. I gathered normal soil, cocopeat, and organic fertilizer together. Then, mix it well. After that, I planted those plants one by one. I cut some plants into two pieces and planted them. My friend gave me these plants two times, and I planted them.
After planting I watered them.
The Portulaca plant has special characteristics in that it gives flowers at 11 am. At just 11 am it blooms flowers. Every day at 11 am, I was present at my university. During that time, I had a class. So, I never see fresh portulaca flowers in my plant. Their two flowers were blooming. It is valued for both beauty and medicinal properties. It can be cultivated indoor and outdoor both places.
Benefits of Madagascar periwinkle plants:
- It produces anti-cancer medication
- It is used in Ayurvedic medicine
- It is also used in traditional Chinese medicine as a treatment for diabetes
- It helps to prevent hypertension
- It prevents leukemia

I was going to ask which type of portulaca but judging by your description, it sounds just like the one I purchased! People like to also call it the "moss rose"
I did not know that that's when it likes to bloom! It's no wonder I also never got to see any fresh blooms! But it blooms so much too! I can't wait to cultivate it again this year.
