Fresh Vegetables! This is how I sow and grow my own Squash, Zucchini, Eggplant, Cucumber, and more, to feed my family. I sowed Delicata, Butternut, and Spaghetti Squash. I sowed Muncher, Boston Pickling, Spacemaster 80, and Straight 8 Cucumber. Black Beauty and Golden Zucchini, and a long Purple Eggplant variety. My gardens are in New England, zone 6b/7a.

Welcome Back, to Blue's Garden Tips: Potting Up Pepper Seedlings!

Fresh Vegetables! This is how I sow and grow my own Squash, Zucchini, Eggplant, Cucumber, and more, to feed my family. My gardens are in New England, zone 6b/7a.

I am hoping for about 65% germination, and after potting up and transplanting in to my Fabric Grow Bags, I am hoping for half of my seeds to reach maturity for harvest.

Sowing Vegetables for #GroVid23!

Please give this a watch and perhaps, consider giving my video a like and subscribe to my channel. I could use all the help I can get.

For the last few years, I plant about 3 varieties of cucumber, 2 types of squash, and some zucchini in 7 gallon (26 Liter) Fabric Grow Bags. Typically, one plant per bag. I am growing some new varieties: Boston Piuckling Cucumber, Delicata Squash is new. The Eggplant is new for me, too. Some family favorites: Muncher, Straight 8, Spacemaster 90 Cucumber, the Butternut Squash, Spaghetti Squash are retunring faves, as well as Black Beauty Zucchini and Golden Zucchini.

Most of you know, I prefer locally grown food. It's healthier for my family, and for the planet. In fact, I prefer to grow my own food. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking to get fresh foods to my table.

And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.

We are trying eggplant this year too. Some of our neighbors have good luck with it. I was gonna ask how you prepare straight 8's but I realized I was thinking of eight-ball zuks. We accidentally planted some 8 balls last year 🙄 Grew fine but we like the traditionally shaped ones better.

Nah, straight 8's are boring old Cukes. Space 80 and Straight 8's are very similar only one comes in much earlier, so I get some over a longer period. I am curious, I've seen those 8 ball Zucch's, wonder what they're like?

Same as regular zucchini just harder to cut up and cook with lol We didn't care for them. We had the best luck grilling them. Nice sliced, bigger than regular zucch. We also scooped out seeds and baked some which was good too.

My youngest, today, came to me and discussed the zucchini!
She loves to cook some, too, and she was very excited 2 summers ago, at the amount of Zucchini I grew. She learned to grille the zucchini. Loved it.
This past summer, the zucchini harvest was way down for me, personally. So, she didnt get a chance to make as much grilled zucchini.
