After my last Hive Garden post for #hwc2024 in which you can see all the stages of pumpkin growth in my garden, when @hive-world-champ asked me in a comment if this was the only pumpkin I had, I replied that it was, however, when I went to the cottage this past week and looked around garden, I found three more small ones, which didn't manage to grow enough to be noticed early and featured in #hwc2024.
What you see now is the complete harvest of pumpkins in 2024 from my garden.
If the year had been more favorable in terms of weather conditions, if there had been no drought, I probably would have had a lot of large pumpkins.
But no.
Thus, only one remains worth mentioning.
I took it with me, drove it to the apartment and now it is waiting on the terrace for me to find time and prepare it for use as food.
With the sudden cold and the snow that has started to fall, I would like to prepare some warm pumpkin soup, bake it in the oven or make a pumpkin pie.
Somehow, I like to enjoy the taste of pumpkin the most when I'm in a warm place, while outside the temperature is low and there is snow.
I would like to ask you @der-prophet and @hive-world-champ (because you started this world's first Hive Pumpkin Competition):
Do you have any interesting recipe by which I could prepare a pumpkin dish or dessert (so that don't just have baked pumpkin, pie or pumpkin soup).
That's a nice harvest, much better than mine. That reminds me, I'd better do an update as well
When I just remember how many beautiful, big pumpkins we had in previous years... But, what can we do, we can't influence the weather conditions 🙂
In the end, this was a competition, and they say: "It is important to participate".
I hope for an interesting update in your post.
The cold weather is really against growing vegetables and is really challenging. That's why I see from others that they built a greenhouse. =)
In my case (and my pumpkins), the problem was the high heat during the summer, when the pumpkin seeds are ripe (April,May-October).
Greenhouses are used here for some other crops.
Please vote for the Ecency Proposal.
Thanks :-)
You have harvested some really interesting pumpkins. The little orange looks like a heart muscle if you use your imagination.
My plan is to hold a little competition for the best pumpkin recipe in December via @hive-world-champ.
