RE: A "Cheat Code" to Owning and Nurturing Our first Bonsai!

in HiveGardenlast year

That's a nice looking bonsai. I spoke to a bonsai grower a little while back at a market and she gave me a few cheats as well. I hope your bonsai gives you many years of enjoyment, I'm looking forward to the next step where you wire it's branches up.

Oh, I want to know those few cheats you said Ma'am.😊

Nowadays, I am checking some bonsai art designs as my guide by the time I wire mine. I cannot wait to see its growth and beauty very soon. Hehe. Hope I can achieve the design/art I want. Huh, there's much more to learn.

Thanks Ma'am for dropping by. Have a beautiful day!

She told me that you can bonsai pretty much anything as long as you do it in stages. She pulls up established plants but only after trimming back a lot of the foliage, giving the tree some time to recouperate (normally when they are in dormancy) and then she takes them out and cuts the roots back. She does it over the space of a year so she has to start stock well in advance of the sale season. Her bonsai's were gorgeous.

I really wanted to buy a little rose that she had but it was way out of my budget. I suppose I'll have to try grow my own.

The trunk of your bonsai is great, I love it when they are super hefty at the bottom, it gives them so much character. I'd love to see it in a year from now 😁
