As it commonly seems to happen in life, things went from weather-delayed to all out melee!
After some serious record-breaking precipitation, I found myself facing a very narrow window to get all my warm weather crops into the ground. That of course meant that I was going to get an awesome workout and boy did I ever work my carcass ragged over the last couple days!
I got all the pepper plants transplanted:
Seeded my corn and sunflowers:
Paused to admire my ready to be stewed in a bowl of Udon noodles Asian greens:
And then went on to transplanting about fifty tomato plants.
Also, it was humid. Very humid. Which I think had to do with my doc saying I had lost weight at today's six month check-up, Yay Farm Girl Fitness!
Anyway, I also transplanted around thirty basil plants. I like to intermittently plunk them throughout the cold season stuff, as they tend to just get growing good around when the cold season crops are maturing. It's worked before, so I did it again.
Even the baby basils smell amazing, so I never mind that job.
Since I had to collect all the seedlings from the greenhouse, it gave me a chance to check on my very last seeding/transplanting job of the season, which I think I will get to tomorrow as long as it doesn't rain, the squash and cucumber lot.
My tray of pumpkins looks rather glorious considering I had to start them so late thanks to our record-breaking cold and damp spring. I think they will catch up right nicely though, just need a bit of heat!
And my whole day was made by this green little spear peaking through the compost:
It's a dahlia! I have always loved dahlias! My grandma's neighbor down the road grew dahlias and gladiolas in large amounts and I remember being captivated by them as a kid. So in a very un-like Kat moment of impulsiveness, I grabbed a couple dahlia tubers at the farm store. I can't wait til they bloom!
As I stepped out of the greenhouse to take yet another tray of seedlings over to the garden, I snapped a pic of the finally fully leafed out chestnut tree. Our paint horse mare, Jemma, posed quite nicely for the capture, don't ya think?
And on that note, I must jet. There's a post to post, chores to be chored, and this afternoon my youngest takes his driving test and exam!
I so envy you being able to plant! I'd hoped to have all the windows done and the Big garden done by now. But alas....
When I opened the cold frame, the tomatoes that had been 12" high on June 1 are now well over 2' high. I do hope I am well enough to plant tomorrow when my helper comes.
Oh wow! I hope your helper came and you got those beasties into the ground! I am getting ready to head out to put my squash and cukes into the soil, it just keeps raining! lol!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

All that beautiful green! We are letting our land rest this year, we have an ever-expanding garden each year, it's driving us crazy not planting. But we have other projects, like our trees and landscaping to focus on this year.
I love those rest/jubilee years! We gave our garden one of those a couple years ago, best thing I ever did for it(and me lol!). Based on your posts so far it looks like you are all enjoying the year off from gardening, which is super cool:)

Cool! Just the other day I was thinking about is there a community for plants on Hive. I'm trying to grow some and thought I'd make a post about the process.
!CTP
Hivegarden is the coolest community! I have learned a ton from all the green thumbs who post there! Can't wait to see your garden posts!

Then I chose the right community! I hesitated a little cos I thought it is all about outdoor gardening but noticed that my little window pane project was very well received. I'm really excited about this new hobby of mine. Kinda really relaxing. I'll keep you posted on how it goes on! !CTP !PIZZA
Everything looks so danged healthy! Well done you!
OOH! I receive that MB accolade with joy! I'm just sorry it took me three whole days to get to accept it, it's the heathen offspring, they are keeping me hopping lol!

I am indeed milady and I hope you are too!!
I have a garden about 1/100th the size of yours and I can vaguely imagine how much work that was.
I look forward to the rest of your posts outlining how the garden is growing!
Oh! It was a day for sure, but I love gardening so much that I don't notice how hard I am working...well, until later lol!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope your garden is flourishing!!

It is! We have two rainbow chard plants that have been yielding enough to include as part of our meal plan once per week.
We also have a bunch of micro greens that me and the poppa eat a little of every day.
Our Jalapenos will be ready soon and so will our tomatoes. We only have four tomato plants but they seem to be growing lots of fruit.
It is awesome to see you all in on nature and how a city boy like can still appreciate your posts when it comes to your green thumb adventures.

Woah. I like those plants of yours. They all look beautiful. Must be nice to have a space for home garden.
I currently in a crowded area so planting is limited into pots only.
!1UP
I so admire people who make the most of what space they have! Pots can yield an incredible amount of produce! That is so cool that you went for it!
And it is nice to have a big garden, especially since I can share what I grow with those who don't have one😊
Hope you are having a great weekend!

That is some awesome work! You are very active 🙂
Thanks😊 And as much as I love being very active there are some days (like today lol!) that I would like to be just a little less so, holy tired lol!
Hope you are having a great Sunday!

yeah, those down days are also important. It has been a great day thanks!
Enjoy your sunday too.

Oh djeez KAT! Your garden space is amazing. I wish we had the same space ... but that's just not the case.
Can't wait to see your precious seedlings growing up nicely and I really can't wait to find all the recipes you're going to post when all plants are ready to harvest.
Aww, thank you so much Hetty! You may not have the garden space but you have the precious puppers to care for and they are just gorgeous! My shepherd is currently splayed out on my bed with one lazily lidded eye on me as I try to catch up from my absence lol! Hope you, your partner, and your fur babies are having the best weekend!!

It is looking awesome, @generikat. It won't be long now before you start to reap some harvest.
Thanks @beststart! I've already been eating tons of lettuce and today I am going to pluck some radishes to snack on! Can't wait for the mother load of produce lol!
Hope you are having a great Sunday!
Question: what do you do with all the produce?
Personal use or do you sell?
Hope you have a splendid weekend.
Sorry for the late reply.

Answer: I can and preserve lots of eat so that I can feed the teenage horde over the winter, and I give a ton of it away! I love giving food to people, it's definitely my thing. One year I grew a quarter acre of pumpkins just for all the neighborhood kids lol! That was crazy and fun!
That said, I used to sell produce at the farmers market in town, but these days I am just too busy with other pursuits to do that and shrunk my garden appropriately lol!
NO BEING SORRY! Look how slow I am!

Oh, and I hope you and the fam are having a splendid weekend!
Cool. Lol. I will stop being sorry 😉
