I never got started planting until 7:30AM as I’d forgotten to start the dryer when I got up. I got the Brussels sprouts row prepped, then planted, with a short row of snapdragons at the end. Then I got it mulched.
That completely finished off the first 20’ section of the garden. The middle 20’ section had to be weeded before I could move the mulch off it.
I got the mulch off and went to rest a while at 10AM. I came back out at 10:30AM hoping to get the artichokes planted.
But I ran out of gas once I’d mulched the hollyhocks. So the artichokes are still in their tray. I cleaned up and was inside getting a shower by 11:15AM.
As I walked by to put things away, I noticed the Anne raspberry had set tiny raspberries.
And of course the obligatory shot of azalea pink floof… Sorry for so many azalea photos, but last year I had none due to the late May frost. So I’m making up for it.
The Big rose is covered in flowers now.
I ate some lunch and was in bed and asleep by 1PM. I’d done far too much far too late in the day on Monday and was paying for it.
New Herb – Row 5, sage in bloom
In the South Herb garden, I was surprised to see a white flower on the flowering almond. It finished flowering back in April.
Also in the South Herb garden, the peony is in full bloom.
I can’t remember if the spirea was ever so heavily laden with blooms before.
In the West Herb garden the catmint is in full flower.
In the West garden, there are 2 colors of Sweet William, but this one is the eye catching one. The other is just red.
I went out to get a photo of the evening light on the middle pasture. On the fort, a squirrel was munching away. He was not at all concerned about me.
Someday I will get a new camera, and it will be a shock to have photos taken quickly and in focus. But here’s the middle pasture in the evening light.
On Wednesday I hope to be out in the garden again at 6AM and get the area prepped and laid out. I also hope to get the artichokes in the ground and mulched, but we will see…

No wonder you talk about the azaleas a lot, this is so much beauty and the colour is awesome pink.
The sweet William is something else in white and pink. A very beautiful garden.
That Bunny over there must be in heaven to be munching away in your garden, it's Eden, with all those beautiful flowers.
The almond has a very beautiful white flower and the whole garden has come alive with colours.

Not so much tedious, which implies work that shows little or no change. I can see the results relatively quickly, which is a boost.
