The garden on my terrace: Flowers and their meanings

Ever since I was little, spring has been the season I loved and hated at the same time.

I loved it because I love the flowers of ornamental plants, fruit trees but I am also allergic to flowers, so even today for me spring means saying good morning with at least 5 sneezes.

Given this premise, as you can imagine from the image on the cover, I have not abandoned my passion for plants and for a few years thanks to a supplement based on Ganoderma lucidum (a mushroom with special properties for allergy) and a very large terrace, I started making my own garden.

Today I will quickly present in photography all the plants that I have grown and to which I give a good morning every morning as soon as I wake up.

Let’s start from the ornamental plants and in particular from the photo on the cover that represents a plant of GAZANIA.
It’s a beautiful perennial herbaceous plant, often cultivated as an annual, characterized by showy daisy-shaped flower heads that close in the dark.

In the language of flowers, the gazania symbolizes wealth, this meaning is due to the "richness" and fullness of color of its flowers.

SURFINIA is a variety of Petunia, quite easy to grow to beautify gardens and terraces.

Surfinia is a herbaceous plant of the Solanaceae family.
It is cultivated as an annual plant despite being of the perennial type. This is because it often does not survive the winter.

It was born in Japan in the 1980s by crossing petunias with a climbing species.
Today it is used by gardeners to decorate the outdoors.

According to the meaning of flowers, Surfinia is often associated with tenacity and courage.

PETUNIA indicates a genus of plants belonging to the Solanaceae family, the same as the tomato and potato.

Native to South America, it is annual or perennial specie whose blooms are characterized by various chromatic shades.

In the language of flowers, because of the large number of flowers it can produce, Petunia is often considered the symbol of love that can not be hidden.

The DAISY is the clearest example of how simplicity can be translated into extraordinary beauty.

Because the Daisy gives joy, announces spring, makes beautiful fields and attracts bees and butterflies.

There are many species and many varieties that differ in size and color.

Its scientific name is Leucanthemum, it is a perennial herbaceous that produces the typical inflorescences of asteraceae (also known as Composite).

Since ancient times, the daisy has been linked to meanings of purity and nobility of mind.
It is a flower with its white petals and its yellow center reminiscent of a sun, reminiscent of innocence and positivity.

GERANIUMS, like roses, are the queen plants of balconies, very easy to cultivate and, depending on the variety, create a decorative effect of great scenic impact, both for the number of flowers, and for the color.

They are the symbol of the Italian summer.

The meaning attributed to this flower varies depending on the color and variety: red geranium means consolation, pink means preference, and geranium ivy means friendship.

LAVENDER (scientific name lavandula officinalis) is one of the most used and appreciated plants since ancient times to perfume and treat the body.

The name itself comes from the Latin verb 'to wash'.

Lavender is known for the many properties of its essential oil, for example, sedative, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial actions.

The plant is indigenous to the Mediterranean regions, but is also common in the regions of southern Europe.

Lavender is a flower that contains many meanings.
Many attribute to it a particular message, that is, "your memory is my only happiness".

Another meaning, rather ambiguous is linked to the tradition that narrates how this plant had miraculous effects against the bites of snakes. Nevertheless, inside the Lavender bushes it was thought that the snakes made their nests.
For this reason, Lavender has been attributed the meaning of distrust.

A third "modern" meaning is that of cleanliness.
Since ancient times, this plant has always had the meaning of purity, virtue and serenity, and has always been appreciated for the ability to attract positive energies to themselves and personal space.
