We had a mini farm in our front yard. My father created this garden because he loves plants. He would wake up early in the morning to water the plants, and by pulling out the grass, he made sure that the surroundings looked clean and the garden was well maintained. We had a little talk with my father, that if we had a work and had money he's one and only favor would be a land.
Our mini garden had three plants: malabar spinach, Water spinach, and lemongrass. We also had an eggplant back then, but it died, so my father decided to plant new ones.
Even though he was so busy, he always had time to take care of his plants. He will cut the fruit and the big leaves so it would stay fresh and continue growing.
Sometimes, if I had time I would help my father to cut the fruit and the leaves.Trimming the grass that surrounds our mini garden.
We would sell our Malabar spinach to our nearby market, my parents an I helped together to cut the stem and wash them thoroughly so it would look clean when we sell it.
My grandmother also had a garden, I also helped her harvest their plants because I find happiness connecting to nature through plants. I also have a dream of having my own garden.
They had a big garden that had a lot of plants, there was a peanut that we took to harvest it.
We took a break because it was exhausting to harvest without rest. It would be fun dancing with my family.
This is my uncle with some of the peanuts that he harvested, he looks so proud and he looks like a model with these peanuts.
There is also an eggplant in here. This garden had a big space so they planted a lot of eggplant. The fruits of this eggplant were quite big and healthy.
The papaya in here was also big, even the tree itself was small but the fruit was big and delicious and had a lot of fruit produce.
We made a shake out of this papaya and it's so sweet. It tastes so good and it is perfect for dessert.
There is also a squash here that grows many big fruits. It feels so worth it, to plant this squash because the fruit looks healthy.
My grandma and my uncle's also planted a watermelon, after we planted the squash we planted a new one which is watermelon.
All of these plants in my grandma's garden they will sell it on the market and they earned a lot of money. It is my inspiration to have a garden and I will plant a lot. I know that planting plants was hard but I'm dedicated to it. It's my hobby and I find myself happy when I connect with the plants.
I learned that Gardening has a lot of benefits for us, spending time in nature can help us feel more relaxed and have a sense of satisfaction. Also, it provides us with healthier foods because it's organic, which we can save more by producing our own plants. It is healthier than buying in the supermarket.
