Hello everyone and Hive Garden Community ? How are you today ? I hope all of you are always healthy and happy always having a day. As usual, every Monday I will write about my hydroponic journal, which is an article about the summary of activities and progress of the vegetables that I grow in hydroponic media and also about my work on making hydroponic installations.
Kale in PVC Hydroponic Installation
This week, I visited my customer's house, named Anthony. I once installed a hydroponic installation at his house last September. He asked me to come to his house to check the condition of the vegetables, whether they can be harvested or not.
Anthony specifically grows only one type of vegetable, namely Kale. Kale is a vegetable that belongs to the cabbage family, along with broccoli, cauliflower, and mustard greens. Growing kale is not difficult, but it does have a natural pest when planted in the ground, namely rats. I once planted kale in my hydroponic garden but it was damaged by rats. Fortunately, the PVC installation that I installed at Anthony House was placed on the fourth floor rooftop so it was impossible for mice to reach the vegetables.
Kale is a popular vegetable right now and is very expensive. In supermarkets, 100 grams of kale costs IDR 15K or 1 kg 150K, when compared to various other vegetables such as bokchoy, kangkong, samhong, etc. which are still around IDR 20K per kilogram. For that, Anthony invited me to develop this plant to be mass-produced and sold to the market. Kale that we planted, the condition is very beautiful and lush. But there were some kale that was damaged because last week, there was an incident when the water pump died and the water in the PVC pipe was empty and the plants dried up.
Samhong
In hydroponic journal #4, I talk about the condition of vegetables that do not grow uniformly. Finally, I decided to group the samhongs by size so that they can grow and be harvested uniformly later.
The growth of the samhong that I plant is still very good and I'm sure next week it can be harvested. I use 1000 ppm for the liquid fertilizer mix that I use.
Caisim (Mustard)
Caisim or Mustard is a type of vegetable that is popularly grown by vegetable farmers in Indonesia. The reason, this vegetable is very easy to grow and also not easily attacked by pests. Caisim is a vegetable to add to noodle dishes, although I don't think there's much of a benefit.
I grow this vegetable for fun, and it is not well cared for. Finally, the condition of the vegetables turned slightly yellow in color. Maybe next week, I will harvest this vegetable and consume it myself. Because I also have a caisim who is 14 days old, who is developing very well.
Bitter Mustard (Mustard)
The development of this vegetable is very good and there are no problems. Last week, when I was just transferred to hydroponic media, I used a fertilizer concentration of 800 ppm, and this week I am still using the same ppm concentration. I also spray garlic solution to repel pests organically and safely.
Romaine Lettuce
I forgot to tell you about the romaine lettuce I grew. I planted about 60 planting holes. This is my experimental project, as I was curious about the texture and taste of this lettuce, and whether romaine lettuce is difficult to grow in my area.
Kangkong
This week, I transferred the kale seeds that I had sown to the planting medium. You will be very surprised when you see the development of this vegetable next week, because the development of kangkong is very fast. It only takes 20 days to harvest.
Okay, this is my hydroponic journal this week. What will happen next week ? we'll see later.

Call me Isdarmady, because I have a full name that is very long, namely Isdarmady Syahputra Ritonga. I am a head of the family who work as Farmers Vegetables Hydroponic and Consultant Hydroponics, sometimes I also sell coffee from various regions in Indonesia.
I have expertise dispensing coffee with a variety of techniques and tools brewing, because I have the desire to make a coffee shop with hydroponics as centerpieces. Help me realize that dream.
Thanks for read, vote, re-blog and support me in Hive. Maybe god will reward the kindness, let’s success together.
I love to try hydroponics. If I may ask, how did you start to grow germinate the seeds?
interesting question, I think I will make a special post or video about it.
Thank you very much @isdarmady, I will be looking forward to it and if it is okay, can you please add how to actually do hydroponics.
That is an incredible system you made there. Very impressive. It was also a surprise to see someone grow just one type of vegetable. But if it is done for sales, I can see why.
Thank you for stopping by
