Our Bird Cherry tree is ready in our garden! It shows beautiful sakura flowers to us. This Bird Cherry is called Ezonouwamizuzakura エゾノウワミズザクラ（蝦夷上溝桜) in Japanese.
It is a very beautiful elegant tree which always attracts pretty birds. Some of the branches looked sick last year but it looks okay this year.
We have these trees in Hokkaido, Japan as well. In Ainu Indigenous language, “kikin” means the seed, and “ni” means tree. “kikinni” means Birds Cherry tree. Ainu people used it for protection from evil spirits or pandemics. Also, they used the bark for their medicine. The bark has an antitussive effect. They cooked branches with risotto as medicine.
It's very useful knowledge and wisdom. I tasted the seeds before but as you know the seeds are too sour to eat. It is a medicine. I am glad that we have a protection tree in front of our house.

庭のエゾノウワミズザクラ（蝦夷上溝桜)の木が満開です。きれいな桜を見せてくれています。英語名はバードチェリーです。
美しいエレガントな木で、鳥たちが集まる木です。去年は元気がない枝がありましたが、今年は元気そうです。
北海道にもエゾノウワミズザクラが生えています。アイヌ語では果実を「キキン（kikin）」、木を指すときは木を表す「ニ（ni）」を付けて「キキンニ（kikinni）」と呼ぶそうです。悪いエネルギーや疫病などの魔除けに使ったり、鎮咳効果のある樹皮はメディスンとして使っていたようです。枝はお粥と一緒に煮て薬用にしていたようです。
すごい知恵と知識ですね。前に実を舐めてみたことがありますが、ものすごく酸っぱくてもちろん食用ではありません。メディスンです。家の入り口にあって魔除けになってくれて頼もしいです。
This one is a pink bird cherry Colorata. This tree is still small but is very pretty.
これはピンクのエゾノウワミズザクラ コロラータです。この木はまだ小さいのですが、とてもかわいらしいです。

Is it blossoming season in Japan?
I am not in Japan at this moment. Most of the mainland of Japan already finished the blossoming season I guess. In my hometown, the North of Japan has a blossoming season right now. Also, my current place in North America finally has a blossoming season! Here and in the north of Japan have a lot of common plants and flowers.

やっと春めいてきました〜。今年のガーデニングはまだ種まきできてはいないので、もうそろそろかなと思っています。何年か前に巻いた種が今年芽を出しているものもありました。
私も@akipponnさんのお子さんの後ろ姿の写真をタイムラインで見かけました。子供さんとガーデニングってかわいすぎる写真の構図で、目を惹かれました。
