Gardening Season 2021 Wrap Up, Part 3 - Photos of harvest and produce

in HiveGarden3 years ago

Welcome to the final part of my Gardening season 2021. overview posts. You can check out PART 1 and PART 2 in case you missed them. Today I will share some photos of fruits and veggies we managed to harvest, some in one go and some in small batches but more often.

Berries

Raspberry harvest was the most successful, followed by blackberries and then strawberries. We did these harvests often and other then eating these fruits fresh, a lot of it ended up in the freezer for winter - mainly for cakes!

Cherries

This season was quite bad for cherries so we just had enough to eat and a little bit for freezer. Usually we made cherry syrup (for cherry juice) but this year we had to skip that as it wasn't enough harvest. Maybe next year will be better!

Peas

With peas, it's one of those hit or miss veggies - sometimes it barely gives anything and sometimes there's plenty. This year, it was a great year for peas and again, a lot of it ended up in the freezer for winter months.

Cucumbers

We plant two types of cucumbers, one is for eating, mainly in salads (photo on the left) and the other one is for making pickles (photo on the right). Pickles are some of my favorites for winter together with other pickled veggies!

Onions and potatoes

These veggies are harvested at once and this year was a great one for both, onions and potatoes. As you can tell, we have regular (yellow) and purple onions and together with potatoes, it's some of our most used veggies for cooking and making meals.

Tomatoes and garlic

Other then using tomatoes for salads, we also make as much tomato juice as we can harvest tomatoes and what you see on this photo is just a small portion of the tomato juice making harvest. We also have plenty of garlic to last us for a while.

Quince and hazelnuts

I was collecting these quince fruits that kept falling off the tree and my mom ended up making quince compote which I don't like but some of my family members do. I was also collecting hazelnuts multiple times, let them dry a little bit and then put them in a veggie mesh bag for storage.

These are all the photos I have to share but there's a lot more harvest we did that I don't have documented in form of photos. I am so incredibly grateful for our garden, for all the abundance we have being able to grow, harvest, eat and enjoy these organic, homegrown fruits and veggies. I truly consider this a blessing!

I also want to give a huge thanks to all of you who have been following and supporting these Gardening Season 2021. posts, it really means a lot to me and I enjoyed creating them for Hive. I hope next year I will be able to do the same and I cannot wait for Gardening Season 2022. :D

Yes, it was a good one, we are happy with how this season went. :)

So many healthy fruits and vegetables! I'm sure they all taste great, because they are homegrown.
