RE: The growing hand

in HiveGardenlast year

It seems like you have a reasonable array of plants and that's nice I think, do you get enjoyment out of the process of growing?

Yes I do, especially when it's a vegetable that I like eating. I don't like sour fruits, and I just monitor and harvest them my family. That one feels a bit like a chore, but it is worth it when they get excited while eating it.

swap them for things like honey, eggs, olives and so on

That's like barter trading, and it sounds really nice. Unfortunately it's not possible with us. We live in the city and not a lot of people have gardens, and most don't really grow their own things.

Exactly like bartering, that's the word we use for it; I have a group of people around me that are actively engaged in it and I have quite a lot to bater also, my fruits and vegetables and the kangaroo and deer meat I shoot regularly which is super expensive to buy. I end up getting a lot of what I need for it and am really pleased with how the system works, as are the others who barter with me.

Oh that's really cool. Especially since you are being paid to get the kangaroo and deer meat. Since that is super expensive, I think it is in your trade partner's interest to keep it going. This looks like a very healthy relationship. Congrats.
